One of the greatest pleasures in my life was to watch these guys play long after I thought the opportunity had gone. It is something I will never, ever forget.

Here are my top seven in no specific order. Well, except for #1, that would be the Beatles
And the songs would just take forever to list.
The Beatles
Radiohead
Jimi Hendrix
Pink Floyd
The Doors
The Flaming Lips
Led=Zeppelin

Here's a trance song I rather like. I first heard it in a video of some edited CCTV in London showing a few chavs trying to get their ASBOs, and picking a fight with some cage fighters who were on their way to a stag party. It was really funny, especially when you think of the chorus of the song being the anthem for these silly chavs ("You could do anything").
009 Sound System- DreamscapeLately I've been listening to a fair amount of:
Dirty Projectors
Animal Collective
Electric Six
I've been sleeping on Electric Six for way too long. They're like a newer Bloodhound Gang, in that their lyrics are self-effacing and hilarious, with a solid rock n' roll foundation. Lately, I've been seeking out more "feel good" music than the teen angst stuff that Greekdog listed (and which I really do still enjoy, but don't always want to be reminded of the past by).
For example, here's a great example of their acerbic sense of humor:
Electric Six- I Buy The Drugs

It's party music dude. Like the Beastie Boys or They Might Be Giants or Bloodhound Gang. tool and A Perfect Circle are great for cerebral car rides, or quiet anger. (Judith is a killer rock song, bro) You have to be in the mood for Electric Six. They aren't an all the time kind of band. But I'm not sure tool is either. Blah. Don't get me wrong, tool is one of the greatest, most intelligent rock bands of our generation. Sometimes you just need something FUN though.

It instills a feeling of hopelessness, therefore many suicidal people listen to country. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
