Ok, so you guys are in support of a medal that comes in before Bronze, then?

I saw one of the mods type that out somewhere. I assumed it had to do with the forum provider...but that is the limit of my knowledge...which obviously could be wrong

The medals do not cost additional money to the site, so the reasons against adding new medals DO NOT include financial reasons.
Anybody have anything to say about adding an additional medal that comes in before bronze? The level I am suggesting here is "Tin" and woul be awarded at 10 on the cross-map achievement and 10 on all the other achievements as well.

As mentioned, we need another metal or alloy at any level over Platinum. Diamonds are for Kings and Queens.

Ultimately it will come back to "who benefits from this?"
If we push to get Platinum and Titanium, lackattack and AndyDufresne will tell us that it really doesn't affect that many users. There are a few players who will get the awards right away, so it doesn't give an immediate result to anyone but them. There are a few more like me who are medal whores and we will attempt to get the platinum and titanium medals.
Where this suggestion has the most effect is on the beginners. With a TIN medal at 10 accomplishments, thousand of players will have an immediate benefit of a new medals, but untold tens of thousands more will have the benefit and the attractant of getting a medal when they've accomplished a little bit...enticing them to earn more and do more on the site.

Any thoughts on a lower level medal? One that comes in at 10 victories?

I mean, I was proud as hell when I got my first cross-map medal. And to be honest, I kinda felt the ratings medal would act as a sort of medal of the masses sort of thing.
The current medals already ARE pretty easy to obtain. They take longer for non-premium players, but hey ... they are also playing FREE (yes, that includes me now, but I was premium for 2 years).
What we really need are medals that are HARDER to obtain, particularly cross map. We have over 100 maps and yet you get a medal for playing just 20?
I would also like to see a "revolving" or " need to work to keep earning" award (maybe a pennant instead of a medal or trophy). Right now, once you have played for a while, there is not much more to achieve. That is a far bigger problem than tossing bones to new people.

Just a reminder to everyone that this post suggests a medal after 10 victories in a category. Some interesting comments. As an aside, I did also suggest two medal levels above Gold. While I know we are obligated to read all of the previous posts to see if something was suggested previously, I wasn't about to read 153 pages of suggestions to get there.
Clearly, someone else suggested medals above Gold.
My suggestion is to add a medal before Bronze. My thought is Tin and it would happen after 10 victories in a category. While it certainly makes sense that some players who already have medals don't like the idea of getting medals this quickly, there is some inherent benefit to encouraging new players and attempting to keep them around for longer.
My suggestion attempts to encourage new players to keep playing.

A way to do something, but not dilute 'medals' is to award a ribbon for participation after 10 games in each of the styles; but have that ribbon replaced with a medal once those honors are won.

Bronze medals are not hard to achieve... at all.
Anyone who keeps playing will get one, unless they just plain don't know how to play and cannot learn.
Really, it will just clog up the screens of people who play a lot, while offering little to those who don't. Everyone won't earn every medal, no. However, the only people who will earn no medals are those who just don't play much... and I doubt they really care.

I may not have read through your entire thread and it has been some time since I read through the others, but at least I knew they existed.
If you want your suggestions taken seriously by anyone but newbies, it behooves you to do a little more research... or you will get responses like mine/johnny rocket's....etc. OR will simply be ignored.

I would be against lower level medals. I don't think that many people would be excited about them when they are first starting out. I was excited enough about trying out all the maps and settings.
I'm assuming the purpose of a "tin" medal would be to keep people interested. Lack would have more data than any of us, but I would guess that most new players either play 4 games and quit/deadbeat, or play for a week or two until they meet one of the idiots in a game who dumps on them and spoils their experience.
I don't think a tin medal would change anyone's mind about staying around and playing the game, or influence them to become a member instead of staying non-member. I think most of the games that lead you along by giving you a "reward" regularly are pretty childish, and not what I would want here.
I think the main purpose of the medal is to encourage existing members to try more game styles they wouldn't normally play, which is why I am in favor of higher levels (Platinum, diamond, titanium, name doesn't matter to me) of medals, rather than low levels.

I like this idea and have already incorporated it into a separate recommendation. It takes a long time to post a well-written suggestion! Thank you for all of your thoughtful posts to my suggestions, I appreciate the time that YOU have taken!
