actually, i think it's been a whole 2 days since the last one 8-)
read the books. Then tell me we don't need a map. (actually, that's purely a matter of opinion, but I think they're that good!)

EDIT: the threads do need merged tho...

I've read all of the books, and they're great, but the map isn't really anything special as such... Not saying it couldn't be made into a good CC map though. There's just the issue of copyright. Whoever wants to do this map needs to ask Jordan's family (I think it's his wife who owns the copyrights now that he's dead?) for permission to use the map.

Well, we either have to make a map that doesnt include anything copyright, or get permision from whoever owns the copyright. Its proving difficult to find out what is copyright. I know that the titles are, and the snake and wheel, but im not sure about country names. I will probably try to get permission.

Thats the first draft. I know its not pretty, but im just focusing on the gameplay right now. Continents are not defined. any suggestions?
Also, i am nothing near an artist. If anyone with artistic skills is willing to help me make this look better after territories are established, it would be much obliged.

You need to put the image's url, not the webpage's.

Right click the image, select "copy image address" or something and then paste it to your post.

These are my suggested borders. Sorry about all of the trouble above and thanks for the help.

I ask for your sugestions and help if you are more artistic than me (which doesnt take much). I made the map using microsoft exspresion design 3.0.

I accidentaly made two different continents dark grey. Please keep in mind that these are seperate continents. Other than this, if two territories are the same colour, they are the same continent.

I am considering the continent bonuses: ( I am updating these with new suggestions)
Dark Grey (Blight) - 4 (2 continental, 2 for Shayol Ghul {the small one in the middle, i didnt have enough room for text})
Golden Yellow (Aeil) - 4 (3 continental and 1 for Rhuidean)
Light blue (Borderlands)- 4
Light Green (Aes Sedai) - 6 (a 3 continental, 3 for dragonmount, White tower and salidar)
Dark Grey 2 ( Arad Doman) - 2
Dark Green ( Caralain Grass) - 8
Dark Purple (Cairhein)- 4
Red (Andor) - 7 (includes 3 bonus for two rivers)
Grey-Blue (Seanchan Territory) - 5
Skinish (Seanchan ressistance {im only half way through path of daggers}) - 2
Light Blue (Aringill/ Far Madding) - 5
Light Purple (Tear) -2 (maybe 3 if i add the stone of tear)

Shangtai is special. Im thinking about adding capital cities, and shangtai will have a waygate to the cities (not sure yet though).

What do you guys think. I really appretiate any suggestions.

well in the older thread I suggested that the ways should be a territory that borders all the ogier built cities but reset to a certain number neutral at the end of a turn (get your troops through fast, or Machin Shin will destroy them). Then the thread kinda died (I'm not sure why). What do you think?

EDIT: looking over your numbers, i note a few fairly large returns (3 for the white tower? even with Egwene's rebels besieging it??) for single territs. These generally are not balanced (An observation from other maps i've seen in production) so I'd recomend making them simply parts of other continents, not single region bonuses.

i agree about the ogier grove idea, especially it being retaken by nuetral. i was thinking of making capital cities completely landlocked by thier mother countries. The waygates could go there. Im not sure about it though.

What do you think about having the white tower and salidar together count as 3? I think that there should be a bonus for controling all the Aes Sedai. Maybe i should include a black tower.

And i know that i must sound repetative, but is anyone good with their graphics program artwise. I havent done this befor and would like a partner for atleast the graphics portion.

Thanks for the feedback

Some tips for mapmaking.

First get a map of the area you are making a map of. In this case, google a copy of the WOT map, like this one:

[bigimg]http://www.wotmud.org/directory/maps/p18.jpg[/bigimg]

Now you just put the original map on layer 1, create a layer 2 that is transparent and start tracing the borders and land shapes to the second layer.

When you're done, just remove layer 1, and start creating your map based on the outlines you just drew on layer 2.

Yah, thats what I did (i used the black and white one). I used the rivers on the map to seperate the territory that is nuetral in the books.
Thanks for the advise anyway though!
I am currently writing to Hariet (Jordans wife) to obtain copyright permission.
I am also applying to get the map moved to the workshops.

This should be the immediate focus, since if you are unable to obtain permission, development may be all for naught. Hopefully whatever you are writing will be able to clearly and with great detail, explain how you want to use the map, and how Conquer Club in general uses maps, and the relationships between cartographer and CC.

Best of luck,
