Right... his six month ban expired and he's back.

After seeing the april fools heart dice faces I think it would be a great idea to allow the map making community to design dice faces and allow each player to select their own.

The process for approval would be similar to map making except it should probably be easier and only require the graphic CA's approval.

Concise description:

• Selectable/Designable Dice Faces

Specifics:

• Allow for the designing of customized dice faces approved by the community.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:

• By allow the map making community to focus their efforts in other interesting ways and allow users to make their console, and their account, truly feel like their own.

I think it would be a better idea for players to be able select a "skin" that they like.

Yeah the farmer, the one who immediately foe's any non new-recruits who join his farming games.

That's what I meant. Sorry, I'm speaking as someone that would actually design it so from my perspective it's customizable.

But you're right, it's really a skin.

This actually an idea we've tossed around. The dice would have to be the same size as the current dice (so unfortunately the bunny above wouldn't work)---but expect more about this to come in the next few months...

why not make this a plug in?

You can do this yourself with some relatively simply CSS overlay tricks, or even a GM script.

Overall I think this should go into the "Skin the Site" line of conversation.

Alternatively, instead of a game having a setting for the dice skin used, you could offer each player a setting of what dice skin they wish to use. The list of possible dice skins could be much greater for Premium members, or allow for custom dice sets.

Lets say PlayerA selected the Digital dice skin for his profile. Every game he played in, he would display his dice rolls with the Digital skin, both attacking and defending. (If Bplaya had selected the Magic dice skin and attacked PlayerA, he'd see his Magic dice on the left and Digital dice on the right.)

i dont like this idea at all, too much work for something so small
on the other hand having a custom die per each map might be nice
but once again its too much work for something so simple

First bits cool, this bit I've got a beef with... If I'm picking a dice skin, that's the dice that I wanna see. I don't want to see some other players stupid ugly skin, I wanna see mine. I figure that the dice skin that you pick on your profile is the dice skin that you see. Other wise, you're talking about using up more server power than necessary for something that doesn't really matter and is actually kinda dumb.

Agreed, that would be the whole point of Skinning the Site, not for the game, but it's an alteration of how you see the site.

Would work just fine that way, too.
