It's been a busy week or so for the Bulldogs with big celebrations and their first defeat.
The Bulldogs game against #38 St John's was delayed due to the firing of the team coach. The new coach swimmerdude made some home court adjustments that took things for Mississippi State from bad (Das Schloss) to worse (Monsters). Although the score may look close in the end St John's lead the whole way and the Bulldogs went home with their tails between their legs. After being just barely beat in another tourney by swimmerdude Coach Dub is really hoping to take one back if the teams meet again.
Luckily the team bounced back quickly to take two wins. First on the road against #20 San Diego, who has a new coach this year, and then at home against West Virginia.
The big news was the 2KS Sports Classic Championship Game where the Bulldogs pulled of a come from behind upset victory over #4 Yale. Yale's coach William Tennant had his team playing well throughout the first half but then the tables (or dice) turned for the Bulldogs and they came out the victors. Coach Dub looks forward to playing Tennant again.
Being 6-1 to start the season and having a couple upsets in hand the Bulldog fans are waiting to see the new rankings and if their team can crack the top 25.

working feverishly to get scores updated...posted Week 6 through the Challenge Weeks...still have the rest of week 6 and the back weeks to update. Still hoping to get the Game 7 set out shortly.

The Big-10 holds a 4-3 edge in its Big-10-ACC Challenge with Northwestern going on the road and toppling #1 Georgia Tech 83-66, ensuring we'll have a new top team when the initial RPI rankings are released late this week (I hope...lol).

Hey, don't mean to nag, but I was just wondering if you've completed a schedule yet and if you have if you could post it or send it to me.

I can relate. It took me more tries and hours than I care to admit to make a schedule for the 24 team Empricial Universe League. I look forward to seeing the schedule though.

The link for Game 3 results is now up...hoping to get to Game 4s and maybe even Game 5s by Wednesday, post an updated standings board and get the full schedule link finished.

Oh yes, and I'm hoping to get Game 7s sent tomorrow.

Also working on weeding out a few of the deadbeats, so if you've been waiting on someone for awhile now, you'll probably be getting replacement games soon.

HOLY TOLEDO

The NIT Semi-finals match between Toledo and #17 Wisconsin was a close one! The Badgers got off to an early start at one point leading by 10 points, 29-19. The game appeared to be over as Toledo seemed to not be able to diminish Wisconsin's lead for much of the game. Toledo scored 24 to Wisconsin's 25 during this stretch. Late in the game, Toledo seemed to key in on Wisconsin's weaknesses putting up a 30-19 tie the game at 73. A last second buzzer-beater, though, sent the Rockets packing in their first loss of the season.

Unphased, Toledo followed its impressive NIT Tip-Off performance with back-to-back victories at #34 Maryland and against UNC-Wilmington. At 6-1 overall and 4-1 against top 40 teams, the Rockets are easily favorites in the MAC and contenders for a Top 40 spot in the forthcoming rankings. Toledo has outscored opponents by an average of 82 to 65.

After starting the season 2-0, Northwestern was dealt their first loss by Tulsa in their second game of the Charleston Classic. Northwestern led at halftime, but faltered in the second half and was never able to recover. Tulsa pulled out the win 76-71. Coach Glass kept things brief after the game, "As much as we'd like to, we can't win them all. Our guys played hard; it just wasn't enough, tonight. Give credit to Tulsa." The loss may have provided extra motivation for the team, as they bounced back in their next three games, winning them all by at least 13 points.

In their home opener Northwestern put on a show for their fans, rolling to a 36-point victory over Charlotte, 92-56. Next, they traveled to face George Mason where they won easily 80-67. While both of these wins are impressive, neither compare to their next one. On the road facing the #1 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Northwestern pulled out all the stops and played possibly their best game of the year so far. Aided initially by a few bad calls, the Wildcats never looked back. They finished strong and won convincingly, 83-66, giving them a 5-1 record.

After the big win, Coach Glass tempered the excitement, "The offense has been a pleasant surprise. I said after our second game that I hoped it would continue - so far, so good. We still have 24 games to go, though. That's a lot of season. Right now, we need to focus on our next opponent."

All game 7s are now out...now back to finalizing the schedule and updating results.

I'll work to get Game 8s out by the start of the weekend.

Once I have the schedule set and finish dealing through the deadbeats, we should be able to fall into that Monday/Wednesday game format. Sorry it's taken awhile.

Flex lives for the pressure of a deadline. If anything, we should all criticize him for not getting it done faster and threaten a lockout...

Oh yeah Flex, you gotta love Ed Asner but I'm not sure if I'd call you Mary Tyler Moore.

I started out as a Mary Tyler Moore fan (via reruns in college), but recently discovered the spin-off Lou Grant show where he goes back and works at the fictional LA Times. It's a drama rather than a comedy. I love both shows. Here's a hulu link to the lesser known Lou Grant Show.

I watched the Lou Grant show 'Hazard' on that link. It was pretty good. There's some good shows like House on television. But for the most part, they don't make shows like that any more.

We got a couple o' old timers in this forum? ;)

And on another note: Anyone see that IU game last night? Wow. I'm in Bloomington right now, so I got to go to the game and see the madness on Kirkwood (the street with the bars) afterwards. Definitely the best basketball game I've seen in person.

And to make this post not entirely off-topic: Toledo's game against Temple is in the final seconds. The Rockets will rise to 7-1 on (what looks like it will be) a 81-66 victory.

Although it appeared that Columbia would have a home crowd advantage in the finals of this season opening tourney (Starts in 2/3 games), the horrendous job by the refs ultimately gave the win to Tulsa. The Refs must have been brought from Oklahoma or bought out due to the technical Fouls which were called (3 card wonder sets, or my 5 card red sets) along with several petty fouls (So called Random Dice) that were made on the officials part. Tulsa's coach being no slouch recognized the favorable eyes of the refs and began to drive the ball to the basket and had his players fake flops on many plays, which gave them a sound victory of 92-55.
G3 map 1 — Game 10249934 Round 7 Tulsa Win
G3 map 2 — Game 10249935 Round 9 Tulsa Win
G3 map 3 — Game 10249937 Round 8 Tulsa Win

I think you should probably get the rankings updated soon. Your strength of schedule figures are gonna be really messed up if we use the preseason rankings for 9 weeks of games, I would think.
