Im so glad the big update did absolutely nothing to fix the problems with the site, just opened a new opportunity for the site to make money by making a big tournament. I for one hope it fails miserably and doesnt even fill...

I'm curious, what were those that think this is absolute crap hoping for? I was hoping for a paid webmaster, it didn't happen. But CC will earn more money and money is what you pay webmasters with (medals won't do ), so this might take us in the right direction. New medals are always nice. Especially those hard to get and now we finally have a medal for being Conqueror. Plus I'd love to win that iPad 2. Those things are expensive so even if I wouldn't want to use it I could sell it for a decent sum of money.

@Gillipig. Anything not medal related or the announcement of a new tournament. I don't buy the whole revenue stream argument, first off membership fees of $25/yr, while they seem slight, do add up with a bunch of users. Second, the site basically operates on free content - many maps, user apps and content that draws consumers is directly created by the users. If you asked any of the tech team or tech-saavy users to create or help develop a script, most would jump at the opportunity even if there is no reward. Throw in a general recognition medal and you'd have nerds from far and wide show up (no offense Dako).

If this wasn't blown up as some huge site update, things would be different. This isn't an update, no more than me creating a thread four weeks in advance to announce my desire to play in a clan war is an update. It's self publicity - instead of saying program cuts, they're saying trimming unnecessary government redundancies. Big whoop, George still gets fired.

Someone file a C&A report for this tread & lack baiting 16 pages worth of people into thinking there was an update coming, and not a big tournament!

Oh. It seems like cash-generating tournament really is the big update... There are so many other things that the site needs that would have been a better investment of time. I wasted a couple of years trying to push for significant and meaningful change; while I hope that any extra cash is used to better the site, my expectations are now rock-bottom. [sigh]
