It might work better with a little variation in brightness between the colour of the bonuses... kinda like classical risk board style.

I think it's too hard to see the state borders with them all together like that; I prefer it with gaps between.
Important Tournament Notice

The data for ALL of my tournaments has potentially been lost. I am working to recover it but as I am away on business all of this week, there will be some delay. Sincere apologies.

If that is the way you go, how about keeping the colours for each state to make it easier to see the individual ones.

I have to agree with this. I understand the gaps add to the clutter of the map, but they really do make it easier to see each state.

This. Could you try a version without gaps, but with different colours / shades for each state within the region?
The current style wouldn't work.

Do the regions which are stars offer a bonus?

This might work, but I think a nice fall back is the space-division.

Bonus regions with different shades for the states.

Yes, a lot easier to see the difference. Not sure about the colours but those I can live with.

I like it, but I don't know if the grey lines between the states are necessary, I think you could just show the boundaries by the colour change.

On another note, I think the highways could be thinner. This would reduce the clutter, I'm sure.

Meh, I prefer the gaps, myself. I think the distinction between states is more easily noticeable that way.

I think I'm going to leave the gaps in. I mean, you have the mini-map if you so happen to get stuck, and I believe that the mini-map is clear enough on what state is where. I have reduced the interstates by 1px and that is as far as they will go or else they will blend in with the secondary highways. I added a slight outer glow to the interstates to make them more easily seen.

If you leave the gaps in, you should at least make them uniform... fixed width, you know.

Yes I am going to do that, and make all the borders flow together, like the border between Idaho and Montana, but lets leave that for graphics okay as it doesn't affect gameplay. I will be reviewing Sully's gameplay post back a few pages ago so ....

Okay I have changed the way the states are situated again, I think I will go to having them touch.

V17 Small:
- Changed all the bonuses Sully suggested centuries ago
- Changed the Interstate bonus colors to match those on the map itself
- Made the states touch in each bonus region
- Changed the minimap to match the main map.

Things to do:
- Redo New England to match the rest of the map
- Touch up borders (can wait until we are in graphics)
- Discuss game play some more!!
