Messi looked very, very good. I don't know how you could watch the game and say that

Yea, im not saying he didnt look good, but the messi i watched all year finished those, he easily should have had 2 goals...but he got off 8 shots and really dictated the offense. i just think he was a little off

what type of moron thinks that constantly blowing a horn adds to the atmosphere? don't these simple minded fuckwits realise they are killing any real atmosphere and spoiling this world cup for real football fans the world over.

Personally like the vuvu- eh horn thingies. Hated them in the confederations cup, but used to them now gives the games a unique atmosphere.

UK Does better but still rarely looks good enough to win.

I personally think Spain is going to come up tops.

Is it just me or are the yanks morei nto the WorldCup than the europeans on this forum? Its almost sad that they dont stand a chance and are making such a fuss about it :P

I know this comment is a week old but just thought I'd say that you should know better than to use 'UK' to describe England in this world cup interchangeably , particularly as your location says you're from South UK. The UK consists of four countries, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, three of those countries didn't reach the world cup finals, one did. Your blunder is that of a typical ignorant American. See picture below; ignoring the fact that a 1-1 draw is deemed a victory, see the subheading at the bottom.

If by unique atmosphere you mean 'swarm-of-invisible-bees-coming-to-attack-the-stadiums' then yes, I would agree with you.

So no one is watching this anymore then? :P
Yesterday's games made me wish group stage could be over soon so they can get to serious business.

Netherland starting really slow, Van Persie & Van der Vaart not too good, the young Elia looking like the next great thing for this team, and I reckon if Robben isn't ready for next round they won't go far. They did the job but I doubt they would manage well vs better teams in their current shape.

Japan impressed me vs Cameroun; they don't have a good technique, they're not very fast, they lack physique, but they were still playing with 3 strikers and going forward whenever possible even though they lead early on, had good tactics, played with guts. They'll just need to beat Denmark to pass as I doubt Cameroun will recover and somehow win vs Netherlands.

Italy drawing vs an unimpressive Paraguay, I'd like to say there's no way they will keep their title but the sad truth is they always start like that and go far anyway... They do seem to lack a bit more in offense and physique this time though.

Looking forward to Cote d'Ivoire - Portugal today and maybe see the Brazilians butchet the North Koreans who appear to have come for touristic purposes rather than for the world cup

I was too busy actually watching the matches. I suspect it'll b e the same, every weekday until the middle of July. As soon as the early match starts, I avoid any threads about the World Cup, and then watch the games when I get home. After that, the wife makes me do productive stuff. The joke's on her though. I'm always drunk by then.

I didn't watch the Netherlands game until 70 minutes in, I overslept, gutted! So can't comment on much until I watch the full thing.

Japan's defence was pretty good I thought, but much of their attack was non-existent. If they are to get through to the next round they will need to maintain their resilient defence against the Netherlands and then find some goals against Denmark. If Cameroon don't win against Denmark then Japan would have been given 2nd place on a plate.

Italy started slow like they normally do but by the end of the game they were definitely improving. But at the moment they are showing no signs of world champion material.

New Zealand started okay against Slovakia...this definitely feels like a filler game compared to the exciting games later today.

Only in the World cup do you ever see a fixture list of Brazil v North Korea. 8-)

I've just seen on worldwide live tv some North Koreans. Now you don't see that everyday do you?

They must be high ranking party officials. No way are they regular citizens.

But hey, tied at the half. Amazing.
