Just remove the "passable" with the bridge under it. Almost no other maps specify what is passable since it's pretty obvious anyway. It's enough to specify the impassables.
I also agree that the bridges could be improved, but keep the palm tree!

I want to see this map move. Tisha, if you can address the concerns about the bridges, we'll let you keep your palm tree.
If you can get an update, I'll help push you to the finishing line....

I never had a problem with the palm tree, just the bridges, and a the bit of open space that was around. This one has been a few minor tweaks from the Forge for a while now.

Agreed. As for the bridges since this is the sister map of your great 1st Nations North America map why not just go with the same canoes?
I do think the Nazca monkey in the middle of this pic would look sweet in the space above "Passables" and complete/balance the graphics. I bet Andy would like it a lot too.

I like the bird in the lower left.

Tisha, what are your thoughts about my suggestions on the map?
thenobodies80 wrote:Personally i think that the palm tree is wonderful.
In any case it's your map Tisha, so no one can force you to change something without a valid reason

I have only two suggestions/concerns:
1. Bridges, i know they are my obsession since you started this map, but i can't believe that someone with your graphic skill can't draw something better than that....(no offense but actually they look like
wall bars)
2. In the legend, do you really need all that empty space between the passable and the impassable? I think you should try to move up all the legend.
Except for those two things the map is Forge-ready,imo.

out of town right now, and I been messing around with it a bit. I was going to try the canoes from the first map on there, and see how they look. I know the whole legend area sucks also..

Some of the region names may have to shift slightly for the 888 troops, particularly around the southern point.
<glares at Chilote, Huilliche, Alakaluf & Aonikenk>
Incidentally, you're missing a capital 'H' on Huilliche.

That is the capital H in that font. Note that it is different from the lower case h near the end of the word.

my only thought is that a palm tree seems a bit out of place. other wise this looks great
I guess i just dont associate palm trees with south america very much.

Just need to see the images, kiddo. The first page has the old image with the rope bridges.

FOR THE LOVE OF MILK!!!
enough with the nitpicking! do the bridges really make or break this map? canoes would be fine, but this is an amazing map AS IS.
please stop squeezing the life out of excellent maps! it is ridiculous how many great maps get held up for years by this overanalyzing-please-everyone-bullsh!t. people spend a great deal of their personal, unpaid time to make these for us and you bitch about the most mundane details. would you really NOT play this map because the ufcking bridges didn't quite suit your taste???
the fact that this gorgeous, completely playable map is still lacking a Graphics stamp is testament to how the current Foundry system is a complete and total failure. the designers get burnt out by the bureaucracy and who suffers? the paying members who would love to be playing maps like this regardless of whether or not the passables are absolutely perfect or you're vibing with the choice of foliage.
SCREW YOUR OPINION! make your own damn map if you don't like Tisha's, but quit ruining it for the rest of us.

Get off the soapbox, man. Tisha is very capable of speaking for herself.
I think I see where this is coming from though...
...yep, as I thought, you were that guy making the portland map. Look, don't blame the foundry mods if you quit near the finish line. Your map would have been almost done with a few cosmetic changes, but you didn't want to make them...
Look, the foundry process can be slow and frustrating, don't I know it, but it's also a peer-review process - nobody is sitting "up at the top" dictating how maps should be made. Foundry mods only try to enforce the view of the foundry commenters. Foundry requires lots of patience, and hard work, but it's all worth it in the end.
It's not a perfect system by all means, but it's the only one we have, so getting pissy and attacking the system because you had a rough time with it isn't fair for the other mapmakers, not to mention the foundry mods.
Tell you what though. If you ever want to dig up that portland map of yours, I'd be glad to help you with the graphics. I think it was a great map, and with some small tweaks we could get it in a shape that pleases the foundry & the mods.

This has nothing to do with any maps I've worked on. I want to play South America and I think its obscene that you people have stalled this map with such trivial requests.
While I do come from the POV of someone who's tried to make maps before, Tisha's map is way way way better than mine. And I'm not speaking FOR Tisha, I'm speaking for PREMIUM members who would love to see more than 5 maps get released per year. Lets see... any more maps in Beta since the last time I checked months ago? Nope! The foundry process has lost all sight of what these maps are for: PLAYING.
I realize that this is a peer-review process and that's my qualm here. Opinions are like @$$holes - everyone has one. I think the peer-review process is great in the early stages, helping a designer get some different perspective, but at some point, someone in charge needs to step in and say "enough is enough - lets move this along". I think you are undervaluing how exhaustive it can be for a designer to have their work be picked apart over the course of YEARS. some maps need it - this one clearly does not.
But more importantly, I will say once more: I WANT TO PLAY THIS MAP
And it pisses me off that I cannot because so-and-so doesn't get a boner when they see palm trees.

I think you should express these opinions in a foundry discussion forum, and not on this page.

Lets see... any more maps in Beta since the last time I checked months ago? Nope!

Maps put in beta during the last month: Napoleonic Europe, Stalingrad
Maps put in beta
and quenched during the last month: Macedonia
That's 3 maps right there, might be more since I don't know when exactly you last checked...
ps. you're not helping this map move on by posting "I WANT TO PLAY THIS MAP!!!!!!!1111"

Let's keep discussion on the subject of Tisha's map... while there are merits in both sides of the "foundry nitpicking debate", it would be much more appropriate within a FOundry Discussion thread rather than a map development thread

I've spoken with Tisha several times about the map, and the only thing really holding it back is the absence of an update. If we don't get one soon, then we'll have to consider the map abandoned
