I never watch soccer, but for some reason I love the World Cup.

USA! USA! USA!

Does anyone know if Greece qualified? Does anyone know if Greece has a soccer team?

They won Euro 2004, which, with the exception of Brazil and argentina, is the next best thing to the world cup.

lol. And Greece are currently top of their qualifying group, although it's pretty tight. They should at least make the play offs.

As for North Korea v USA i garuntee it will happen, these things always do.

The thing I can't believe is that New Zeland, who are an awful team only have to win one more game to qualify for the world cup and so far the hardest team they have played is Fiji  The match they have to play is against either Bahrain or Saudi Arabia  Meanly even Iraq are favourites to beat NZ easily.

Where as the European teams have to negotiate very tough groups, i.e. we need to top our group over Holland to qualify automatically and if you come second and go into the play offs where you could end up playing France or Sweden or Portugal etc.

It's so annoying that our continent is easily the best, I wish we could do an Australia and hop off to another continent.

Is the Greek team still as boring as they were 5 years ago?

Yup they were awful at Euro 2008 and as far as I'm aware are still the same now, most boring national side bar maybe Switzerland. Who happen to be 2nd in Greece's quali group.

Australia qualified top in their 'new' group of Asia.

The reason we moved to Asia is the fact that Oceania only has 0.5 spots in the World Cup. So Australia used to be the team that would finish above Fiji and New Zealand and the Solomon Islands, but then it would all come down to one leg (which, until 05, we would constantly lose) - I wouldn't be jealous of New Zealand's position.

This describes me. I watched and enjoyed the Euro as well. I think I just love international competition so much, that I can get into the World Cup.

We all know the final will be Spain against Argentina. Lets not pretend.

Aguero will get Argentina there, but spain will win it.

Spain? To fulfil its potential? You must be kidding. Spain will lose in the semi's, like they always do

Team- Fifa Ranking
Opponents for NZ to make play offs:

Fiji- 106
New Caledonia- 131
Vanatu- 140

Opponents scotland must overcome to get to play offs:

Macedonia- 56
Norway- 59
Iceland- 80

Possible Play offs for NZ:

Saudi Arabia- 53
Bahrain- 89

Current 2nd places in euro (possible play offs for us):
Croatia- 7
Russia- 9
France- 11
Switzerland- 24
Republic of Ireland- 37
Hungary- 47
Northern Ireland- 52
Bosnia- 61

According to the fifa world rankings our route is a lot harder, we are ranked 33 in the world and NZ are ranked 82 yet they get an easier route? Seems unfair to me.

p.s. I have to much time on my hands lol.

p.p.s tbh it's more likely Serbia will reach the final than Argentina while they still have Maradona in charge

I'm pretty excited as well. I watched way too much of it a few years ago. Here's hoping the US can actually score a goal on their own power this time around.

Did you see the USA get shellacked in qualifying Costa Rica? Yeah, they don't stand much chance against Brazil.
