Re: Dojo Yaburi [Premium Prize] (Ongoing)
I would like to put myself forward as an eager apprentice for any dojo who might be willing to pick me up or have need of a lower ranked and relatively good player.

Comcast promised they wouldn't... but I lost my internet access before I was supposed to. Hopefully they stick to their schedule and get me back online on Tuesday. I look forward to getting this rolling again!

The midwest! They kept bungling my order too. I'm back online now, and updates will come later this week. (I think!)

Are ready for more action in this tourney?
Re: Dojo Yaburi [Premium Prize] (Ongoing)
Hey Skyward, if you need someone to cover this for you, I can co-run pretty easily since I've got spreadsheets set up anyway. All I need is for you to get the admins to grant me the privileges. There haven't been any active games for a while, and if it goes on much longer, the risk is people will forget - maybe even have left the site - and then it will be a real hassle to go track down reserves to finish things.
My ever constant two last games seem to have no end in sight!

AND WE'RE BACK!
As I stated in the PMs, I apologize for the delay. Enough about my inadequacies!
I really do appreciate the offer, but now that I've got this rolling again, I want to see it out to the end. Remind to talk to you about the sequel tourney, though.

UPDATE TO WINNING CONDITIONS
While updating my chart tonight, I was struck with an idea on determining the winner in case of tie without the lame "exhibition matches" that I originally planned:
Condition 1: Dojo defeated the least amount of times (Likely undefeated altogether.)
Condition 2: In the result of a tie, the Dojo which defeats the most other Dojos.
Condition 3: If still tied, the Dojo which lost the least amount of 1-on-1 home challenges.
Condition 4: In the rare occurrence that we still have a tie, the Dojo that won the most 1-on-1 away challenges.

Hate to take issue, but I'm not crazy about your new tie-break rules. A better way to go is to have all students who has lost a defending match cut from the tournament. That would mean that everyone on a defeated dojo would be out (i.e., the whole dojo gone.) The remaining dojo's would then repeat, possibly with a chance to reshuffle who is challenging what dojo, and reorder rand of the students and masters. Because in each successive round you'd have some dojo's (even the ones that weren't officially defeated) having less defensive fighters, meaning a shorter path to reach and defeat the master, the tournament would eventually end with one undefeated dojo, or all dojos being defeated in the same round (pretty unlikely).
Understandably, that would be a lot of work, and as I've offered before, I'm happy to help if you like.

Re: Dojo Yaburi [Premium Prize] (Ongoing)
Re format of a 'final' in the event of a draw....
Is it too long-winded to eliminate the defeated dojos, then have the remainder challenge each other again? The difference in this 2nd round is that the 3rd most talented student now takes a rest (he/she has had the lion's share of games when all's considered). So the 2nd most talented then takes on his/her counterpart in the other dojos, with just 3 consecutive victories being required to 'defeat a dojo' instead of the previous four.
When we have got this down to just two dojos remaining (unless there's an outright winner from the group who was the only undefeated dojo) then the two teams square-up and each student takes on his/her counterpart on home/away maps. If tied, they fight again in a 1 v 1 on Classic. If, by sheer fluke, the two teams end-up with 2 winners & 2 losers then the two masters will face-up in a best of 3 final, also on Classic, with the 3 different card settings.
Hope this doesn't sound too elaborate, for it's not really. It's straightforward elimination, but with a shifting emphasis towards the next high-ranked player in the dojo.
This tourney has been going on a while, and I've yet to play a game in it!
Cheers

This is very similar to my suggestion above. The problem is that the #2 tie-break rule may mean that the dojo with the strongest master may not win at all because the master only gets one shot to defeat other dojos, and, if the students are trained well enough on the home map, may never even have to defend. The conecpt of the dojo battle is that the reputation and skill of the master are what make or break the dojo. I even think the original "duel between undefeated masters" concept is more true to the idea of warring dojo's than the new tiebreak rules.

Re: Dojo Yaburi [Premium Prize] (Ongoing)
I disagree; I think the concept is about defeating the students, and then the master, in order to humiliate a Dojo. While adding "rounds" when the challenges run out sounds appealing, such a change would lengthen the tournament beyond my original intentions. I'm sticking to my changes, for now anyways.
gdeangel, I would love for you to run the sequel tournament while imposing the changes that you've suggested. I also hope you organize it in such a way to split the number games a bit more fairly. If you choose to run it, I'll donate a Premium Prize.
