Kennedy is an American Standardbred horse who was owned by the United States Army. Foaled in about 2001, the gelding was posted to the Military District of Washington where he was assigned to the caisson platoon of the 3rd Infantry Regiment, serving as a caparisoned horse. Kennedy was ultimately relieved of his duties due to attitude issues and, in 2016, dismissed from military service as a result of persistent disciplinary problems.

just look at his photo in the article - he even looks like a major sunnavabitch

The National Philatelic Collection is a collection of nearly six million postage stamps, revenue stamps, and related items, owned by the United States Government and managed by the Smithsonian Institution. The National Philatelic Collection is among the world's largest and most valuable stamp collections and, along with the Postmaster General's Philatelic Collection, is one of two stamp collections owned by the United States. In 2005 the United States purchased the boyhood stamp album of John Lennon to add to the National Philatelic Collection.

Right now it says:
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure received generally positive reviews and was wildly successful becoming the highest grossing film ever and setting a new record for Orion. It is now considered a new milestone in comedy. As of 2018 it was the start of a new legend for embassy and Interscope.

I recommend Carl von Ossietzky for article of the day. He was was a German pacifist and the recipient of the 1935 Nobel Peace Prize for his work in exposing the clandestine German re-armament.

You can read the article. Never heard of him but I'm a fan.

Rearmemnt broke the WW1 treaty. France was well within its right to invade Germany 1935 and likely have ended WW2. If you think this is fare fetched France DID invade Germany in the So called Phony War in1939. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saar_Offensive Just not deep enough.

The Day X plot refers to a mutiny allegedly planned by soldiers of the Kommando Spezialkräfte (Special Forces Command) of Germany's Bundeswehr in 2017 or 2018. According to media reports, the objective of the operation was the assassination of Die Linke party leader Dietmar Bartsch and other left-leaning politicians.

I prefer the military term, "No duff." But I'm actually surprised no one I found via Google has explained online what it is from. I was told one it was an acronym and originally had to do with telling pilots not to use their aircraft radios to prevent the enemy from finding out their direction, (that's a hint) around the time of WW II.

The senior prom of the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland for the 1974-75 school year is the only high school dance to have been held at the White House. Held on May 31, 1975, it was attended by 74 students and was generally well-received by participants. 12th grader Ned Faruqahar described the dance as "dynamite, virtual dynamite."

Rebecca was a raccoon kept as a pet by US president Calvin Coolidge and his wife Grace Coolidge. She had been sent to the White House to be served for the 1926 Thanksgiving dinner, but the Coolidges decided to keep her as a pet instead. When the Coolidges took a vacation in the Black Hills, they brought Rebecca along in a basket, together with two of their dogs, Rob Roy and Prudence Prim, as well as five canaries.

With a hard Brexit on the horizon, let's cast our hopes for a great United Ireland, free of the now topsy-turvy Westminster.

There are several key issues related to the United Kingdom withdrawal from the European Union, including the establishment of a new external border of the European Union, or the withdrawal of access, to Northern Ireland, of the regional development assistance scheme (and new funding thereof) from the European Union. Sinn Féin cited these concerns as the basis for new discussion on a united Ireland.[30] These calls were rejected by the British government and Unionist politicians, with Theresa Villiers arguing that there was no evidence that opinion in Northern Ireland had shifted towards being in favour of a united Ireland.[31] In the 2017 Assembly election, the DUP lost ten seats and came just one seat ahead of Sinn Féin.[32] Sinn Féin used this opportunity to call for a Northern Ireland referendum on a united Ireland.[33][34]

The Brexit Secretary, David Davis, confirmed to Mark Durkan, the SDLP MP for Foyle, that in the event of Northern Ireland becoming part of a united Ireland, "Northern Ireland would be in a position of becoming part of an existing EU member state, rather than seeking to join the EU as a new independent state."[35] Enda Kenny pointed to the provisions that allowed East Germany to join the West and the EEC during the reunification of Germany as a precedent.[7] In April 2017 the European Council acknowledged that, in the event of Irish unification, "the entire territory of such a united Ireland would [...] be part of the European Union."[36] The SDLP manifesto for the 2017 Westminster election called for a referendum on a united Ireland after the UK withdraws from the EU.
