Peyton choked. His stats look pretty good but he choked. Irsay (like everyone else in the world) knew, deep down, Peyton struggles in big games and this is no different.
Oh well, at least the monkey's off our back.

Win - Seattle @ Arizona - I think this could be a competitive game.
Loss - Tampa Bay @ Atlanta - Atlanta has a bad defense and no one left on offense.
Loss - Cincinnati @ Detroit - I'm still on board with the Lions as long as Calvin Johnson plays.
Loss - Buffalo @ Miami - I'm coming around on Miami.
Loss - New England @ New York Jets - I hope the Jets win.
Win - Dallas @ Philadelphia - Romo is going to have a blast.
Win - Chicago @ Washington - The Skins get their first win.
Win - St. Louis @ Carolina - I went back and forth on this one.
Win - San Diego @ Jacksonville
Win - San Francisco @ Tennessee - Should be a competitive game.
Win - Cleveland @ Green Bay - Poor Browns fans.
Win - Houston @ Kansas City - The Texans are falling off a cliff.
Win - Baltimore @ Pittsburgh - You never can tell with rivalry-type games.
Loss - Denver @ Indianapolis - I hope I get to watch this one.
Win - Minnesota @ NEw York Giants - The Giants get their first win.
This Week - 10-5. I had big misses on some games.
Overall - 39-19.

That home field advantage definitely factors in
as it was LOUD in Indianapolis Sunday night.
Panthers drop a Newton Bomb on the Bucs Thursday night
and Tampa Bay falls to 0-7.

Week Eight (already)
Overall 39-19
Carolina @ Tampa Bay - Someone called Carolina the "good bad team" (meaning it is the best of the bad teams).
Dallas @ Detroit - The Cowboys played some poor football last Sunday and the defense was not impressive, more Philadelphia's QB woes.
Cleveland @ Kansas City - If it was in Cleveland, I would pick the Browns in an upset, but KC is tough to beat at home.
Miami @ New England - Pats will be angry.
Buffalo @ New Orleans
NY Giants @ Philadelphia - The Giants are still really bad and now that they've won a game, they don't have much to play for.
San Francisco @ Jacksonville - I think this will be a relatively close game.
New York Jets @ Cincinnati - I'm jumping off the Jets bandwagon right now.
Pittsburgh @ Oakland - Mild upset?
Washington @ Denver - Broncos will be angry.
Atlanta @ Arizona - Cards defense is still pretty good.
Green Bay @ Minnesota
Seattle @ St. Louis

Car @ TB
Dal @ Det - If Murray were playing, my pick would be different
Cle @ KC - The Chiefs will lose eventually, but the Browns are not the ones to beat them
Mia @ NE - Gronk's bout of almost-TDs will be less "almost" than last week
Buf @ NO
NYG @ Phi
SF @ Jax
NYJ @ Cin
Pit @ Oak
Was @ Den
Atl @ Ari

My Cowboys may have a schedule that favors them
until the playoffs, if they can deal with injuries.
A problem all teams have at the midpoint of a NFL
season... of course they also have a long way to go
to be playoff material.
Week 8
CAR ... Bucs stay winless
DAL... No confidence in either team, but hope Cowboys can field some defense
KC... DEFENSE & enough offense to go 8-0
NE... home field nod, but the fish can take 'em
NO... Saints finding their groove again?
NYG ... not sure Giants can hold onto the ball, but they still have Eli
SF ... old school rush & crush leaves the Jags winless
CIN ... still don't think the Lets have it going
PIT ... Steeler streak grows to three
DEN... don't think the Skins are ready for a shootout with Peyton
ATL ... Palmer was supposed to be an upgrade, but he hasn't connected.
GB ... Rodgers in a dome? Too easy.
SEA . . . no Bradford, no chance.

oVo - I'd like to get a non-Philadelphia centric perspective. Did you think the 17-3 victory last week was more Cowboys defense prowess or more Eagles offensive woes? I think the latter.

I agree with you, it was winning ugly. Like all teams at this point in the season, the Cowboys have their share of injury problems and I'm wondering what sort of defense they can field to slowdown Megatron & Stafford. It might be a long day for the defense. Then again if Romo & Bryant are up to the challenge it could be another shootout.

They shut down McCoy, so they should be able to shut down Bush and Bell. I would be scared out of my mind about Calvin Johnson.

I am trying to track scores and start another power ranking system. Note that I include the divisions in this. Since it is a really simple +/- system using scores and yards to rank teams, I summed the team totals in the divisions and treated the division as another team. These games aren`t weighted for recent scores, like other power ratings tend to be. I don`t want to reveal my formula, and you probably don`t care. Some interesting numbers are that for every negative point on the redskins, there is a positive point on the Colts. Also, the raiders and chargers are equally distant from the mean.
DY`s Power Rankings:
AFC West
Broncos
NFC West
Chiefs
Saints
Seahawks
Panthers
49ers
NFC South
Colts
Packers
Bengals
Cowboys
Patriots
Chargers
Lions
NFC North
Bears
Ravens
Titans
Rams
Dolphins
AFC North
Falcons
Raiders
Steelers
Bills
Eagles
Browns
Cardinals
Redskins
Vikings
Buccaneers
Texans
Jets
AFC East
Giants
NFC East
Jaguars
AFC South

- Broncos
- Chiefs
- Saints
- Seahawks
- Panthers
- 49ers
- Colts
- Packers
- Bengals
- Cowboys
- Patriots
- Chargers
- Lions
- Bears
- Ravens
- Titans
- Rams
- Dolphins
- Falcons
- Raiders
- Steelers
- Bills
- Eagles
- Browns
- Cardinals
- Redskins
- Vikings
- Buccaneers
- Texans
- Jets
- Giants
- Jaguars
To compare to
ESPN`s most recent power rankings:
They have both chiefs and colts above broncos. The next big difference is the Panthers. They have them as 18 - right in the middle does make sense for a 3-3 team. However, they are a top-half offense with an average D, with good pass and run games. They may just be a relic of the formula.
I also have the Rams 10 positions higher. This is because I don`t weigh in on Quarterback losses.
I have the Raiders victory calculated in, which is probably why they are higher.
Looking at the bottom, it becomes clear that the method breaks down for teams that don`t score high. I will keep tweaking.

The Cowboys join the Cardinals as the only NFL teams
to lose a game with plus four turnovers.
Week 8
CAR ... Newton goes wild and the Bucs remain winless
DAL... Stafford & Megatron stun the Boys again... -4 turnover record now 2-55
KC... DEFENSE & enough offense to go 8-0
NE... Pats comeback with 28 unanswered 2nd Half points
NO... Saints are in the groove.
NYG ... Giants kick Eagles to the curb & remain in the NFC Least hunt
SF ... old school rush & crush and the Jags remain winless
CIN ... Bengals roll over the Lets
PIT ... Missed FGs cost 'em & Steelers come up short
DEN... Down 14 in the 3rd Quarter solved with 38 un-answered pts.
ATL ... Palmer finds Fitzgerald and the Falcons tumble into mediocrity continues.
GB ... Rodgers in a dome? Made it look too easy.
SEA . . . no Bradford, no chance.
10 - 3 . . . 77 - 43

4th Quarter for the Denver game was nuts. Must have been at least 6 turnovers in that quarter.
