CHEATING !!!

Post by Wild Ryan »

"If a player misses a turn, he forfeits his turn for that round, however he will still get credited with armies due to him."

that is totally unfair for those who play the game correctly.
One one side there are those who voluntary skip turns in order to be able in the next turn to benefit from the multiplier and put all his soldiers at once depending on the way the game is evolving ... for me that's cheating. that is not fair play
Not only are they benefiting from an "unfair strategic" advantage
but they are also making all the other players in the game pissed off...due to the reason previously explained (which is not fair play) and due to the fact that they make us wait for an extra 24 hours !!! imagine a game where let's say 4 players decided to do that !!! the game then will only start after the passing of 96 hours !!!

so i suggest that he who misses his turn ...well it's his bad ..he wont be credited with armies due to him...c'mon people, he got 24 hours to play his turn. ANd for those who contest that they cant go onlnie each day well,a middle solution would be increasing the time someone can play his turn, but still not accrediting for missed turns' armies.
My point is "the missed turns multiplier" is against a clean game and is making the players (including me) begining to discuss the game.

Regards
Rayan H.

You are right, I found them now - ideas for punishing those who skip turns, rejected. Ideas for eliminating the multiplied armies collection, rejected. Looking through many threads on deadbeats now, it seems the policy is to make it as unfair to those who play the game correctly as possible, and as beneficial for deadbeats as possible. Otherwise, something would have been done about this long ago.

Three turns - 24 hours each - before you are booted, that's absurd. In the game I am in, we have three players who miss all their turns (except for the one who now took advantage of the multiplier on his third move). The game has been going on for more than a week, most of it consisting of missed turns.

The obvious and perfect solution is, of course, that if you miss a turn once, you are out. They are 24 hours long. Anyone can go online in 24 hours. Those who can't, shouldn't play, as they will only cause trouble for other players.

GFY! Life and shit happen! Sometimes you can't reach a computer for a day (I couldn't at the weekend there) and miss the odd turn. Your idea is a tad extrme my friend. Anyway, it roughly balances out when they get their armies back anyway - you should be prepared for it.

Theidea wass to not let those who miss their turn still be able to playand not be finished for one missed turn, naturally it gets abused just like any other courtesy that is ever extended

missing turns?

Post by plysprtz »

ok this is a neat idea i have and i dont know if anyone would consider it but what if when a plyer misses a turn they receive a bonus of 3 armies and then if they miss a second turn in a row they only get 2 armies and if they miss any othere turns they would only get 1 armie

i just kinda thought of this one day and i think it would be useful because the strategy is still there but you would get those people who miss 2 turns play miss 2 turns play and so on because thats annoying right

its an ok idea, I believe the like has been suggested, but it's not that much of a difference and what happens when you have larger bonuses?

this is why there are things as an ignore list and negative feedback is for. if you spot something you think is real cheesy, you put it in the feedback. if it stinks, dont play them again.

Some people really can't help missing the odd turn or two, especially in freestyle. I usually have the rough idea of when I must be back by, but if I have to wait for someone else to move before I can and I have to leave before anyone turns up, by the time I can get back to it it's too late. Sometimes I've missed a game by less then 5 mins. Of course everyone would like to punish those that play unfairly but the only problem is most solutions so far thought of would also punish those that just got unlucky.
Although I think missing 3 turns in one game is a bit much, maybe that should earn a booting as much as a 3-in-a-row would.

That's your problem right there. Why play like he's gone? Play like he's going to get his armies when he comes back...

And wow... that red text is really annoying.

Life happens and sometimes you miss turns so the multiplying armies is not going to change.
On the other hand we are working on some ways to take out the stategy of missing turns. This is on our pending to-do list:
Deliberately Missing Turns Change

Actually, I've realized some time ago that this has to change, so I moved No Multiplied Armies For Missing Turns from Rejected to To-do.

Every thing is optios this day? we should just get lack to do a sticky and make a massive poll, then we'll see what happens?

most people would vote no but i dissagree
it should still be open as a viable strategy to use
i agree that ishiro has a good compromise to this issue

All the options of a player always have a strength and a weakness, it is up to the other player to find the weakness. Trust me. The missing turns for more armies has a weakness to it. Just find it and stop complaining about it.
The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.

sweeet, can't wait till this gets implemented :D

If you're too busy to get on a computer once every 24 hours then you probably shouldn't be joining games in the first place.

I agree with Trevor because thats how it would go down if playing for real you'll get skip and no double armies for miss turns.

Thats how it works in family and also when friends play.

So they should change it.
Total Wins: 12 Win % it sucks
Total Losses: 44
Total Kills: 36

Speed Games: 1-2

Missed?

Post by Iainarm »

[quote="samuelanonymous"]I agree that receiving troops after a missed game is very unfair. it allows people to purposely miss turns and utterly destroy u in the next turn. quote] That doesn't make sense because they would get at least the same amount of troops for taking the turn than they would by missing it.

But what if you start a game a month before your vacation because you think that it will be over but a month later it is still going on. If this is put into effect then you just lost your position in a game that you spent over a month on with no way to gain that position back again. Was it your fault that the game lasted long then it should have?

I agree with this. I am in two games currently, and it takes the other people nearly a day to take their turn. My point here is that these games can be dragged out for a long period of time. (I think one game went through only 2 rounds in a week) Since people have lives, eventually, something will come up, and they won't be able to play for an extended period of time. Should they be penalized for joining a slow-paced game, and running out of time? No!

If we make it so that you have to be able to check every day, then people will either quit, and continue on and find a less demanding online game, or they will become addicted to the game, and never leave their computer. Both of these things are bad, so the current setup should not be changed.
