I support this proposal by Donelladan.

I dead beat nearly every time i sit down for some trench speeders and the game is clearly lost. Also, when i win i usually find myself being congratulated by my opponent, feeling satisfied with the victory, then my opponent leaves and the game is over, then i sit there by myself clicking buttons by myself for three rounds. If after i had my opponent beat i did not have to sit there and watch a clock count down i do not think it would be drastically worsening my CC experience. For the CC players that value watching time tic away when they are the only one in a game (if someone like the actually exists), i would like to think they would be able to sacrifice that small pleasure for the vast majority of people that would want the game to end when their opponent ends it. I would be happy to accommodate any future opponents that really enjoy watching the clock tic by dead beating rather than hitting resign at there request once they have won the game. If Donelladan is successful it would be significantly improving the CC experience.

if i wanted to click buttons by myself i am sure i could find a much more enjoyable way of going about it
;)

yeah, would be very handy, especially for trench poly.

I support this suggestion.

I have suggested this in the past and supported others who suggested it. Abuse was always the reason for denial. Lots of lowly players are always looking for an edge. We as a community should be able to self police.

Make it a game option and those who don't like it don't have to join games that have it.

A resign option should definitely be implemented in my opinion.
I don't see how abuse could be that much more of a problem because of such an implementation.

With so much time spent unnecessarily finishing dead games this would be a very welcome change to the site!

I think some of the issues listed so far that are valid mostly revolve around point dumping, correct? But considering that it is just as easy to point dump with deadbeating (since it would be round 4 limit anyways) I think that in this situation that point is mostly null. In the event that someone does point dump, we can probably easily find that out by looking at past games and get a quick ban. Not even a warning since it would be easy to tell.

I am definitely for this.

Have not sense no button to surrender in any game....
As in chess, you can surrender in any moment you are lost, and not waste time of all.

Surrender button would be good. I agree with the guy above that concerns about abuse are probably overblown.

An obvious feature this place has needed forever and still does. The point dumping argument is a red herring, since the lack of a surrender button does not prevent point dumping one iota.

I agree that there needs to be a surrender button, this is part of the reason I rarely play anymore. Games drag out longer than needed...

Yes! I agree. We need a Surrender option.

A while back I wrote a comment in frustration, which added to the litany of others' frustrations over not having a concede button. I asked if it could be fixed. Many continue to press for this, while a few "dyed in the wool" opponents continue to negate the possibility of a reasonable request.

swimmerdude99 had a good suggestion, as did Donelladan, concrete, JamesKer1, Dukasaur, and sooo many others!

cowbuki's clever idea was:
cowbuki wrote:...simply make resignation yes/no a game creation option. Then those that need this feature will be in a self selecting and easily tracked group.

Though we all understand that there is a possibility for abuse, there are always safeguards which can be implemented which could greatly minimize abuse.

One idea may be that if someone abuses it, then they will have the same consequence as someone who uses a multi (that being permanent ban). Just because some have had multi's, doesn't mean that the ownership of the site will disallow anyone from signing up. haha That would be utterly ridiculous! No business at all because some abused signing up too many times! lol

So, please revisit it once again (even tho owenshooter will come behind this post and attempt to shoot it down, like he does all the others (okay, we get it, os, you don't like the idea--perhaps consider playing a game or taking up a real crusade, instead of monitoring this thread ;) )). But with so many good suggestions on how to minimize abuse and with so much support of those desiring this option, then why wouldn't management consider well thought-out suggestions?

Thanks, bW for even entertaining the possibility.

Yess.

Oh God yes. =D>

The inability to "tip the king" is the biggest downer for the entire site (well, next to a run of bad die rolls in a critical game and then watching in horror as things even out in a game already hopelessly lost). It is the reason I hesitate to enter a "trench variant, which I think was added after the last time this request / plea came up.

Since it would be used at the option of the player, the only valid objection I can imagine would come from the collection of conquer club sadists  who like to drag things out.

What I have occasionally done is simply stopped processing, which I think is unfair to the winner. I compare it to chess ... at which point the need for the feature here becomes self-evident.

Repectfully,

NvR

I support this! Trench games are meaningless/impossible to play out through the endgame.
