The gospels are not God's word. Since you are claiming the bible is Gods word then those scriptures should be removed. Among others. Pretty much all the new testament really. Also the Bible is the most edited and rewritten book in history. It is estimated that about 6% of it has been rewritten from its original content(6% is what we know of, I'll bet its a lot more).


Also, what you say is completely absurd. The Old testament is full of stories of god murdering people that have rejected his love. He's a bit of a loser that god of years. Can't he just come to terms with the fact that some people think he's a moron.

OK. The ten commandments have been re-translated and altered from the original bible texts.

For example:

5:21 "Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou cast an evil eye upon thy neighbour's house, his field, or his male slave, or his female slave, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's."

has been changed to:

Thou shalt not covet.

Seems like a pretty major "taking away" to me. But again...thats different I am sure.

Stories...in a book written by an ancient people, intended get people to behave in a certain fashion and not question. Seems to have worked.

It is to my understanding that the KJV (King James Version) is the most accurate translation. And you are right the 10 commandments have been changed in some translations.... so I guess whoever did that will see Rev. 22:18 fulfilled. (this would probably take place after death <earthly death>)

Largely debatable, look up Mimiwirus. We are slowly inventing new tools (like the electronic microscope) that allow us to explore the basic bulding blocks of life. These blocks are almost infinitely small, so there's is still much to explore just like the universe.

Then you trace back all life to its orgin...the very first living thing.

Where did it come from?

The ONLY answer is someting or someone has always existed. And that someone or something must have the power to create (or reproduce).

Because science cannot yet completely explain the origins of life it doesn't mean that the hypothesis is wrong.

Humans by nature are curious, imaginative and intelligent beings. Something that we cannot explain makes us uncomfortable, the unkown scares us. Our curiosity obligates us to find an answer for every phenomen.

Many years ago, humans could not explain lightning and thunder. Therefore many theories were created with the tools and knowledge available at the time. The most pouplar theory was that the "Gods' were angry. I know, this seems ridiculous now, but it was a perfectly valid explanation at the time since electricty and static were unknown phenomens at the time.

And just like in any century, there will always be those with closed minds who will cry out and ridicule those who come up with theories that challenge convictions. For example, it use to be common sense to think that the Earth was flat. A few scientists challenged this "fact" and some even paid with their life for even challenging the church.

I swore never to return...

but i'm reading a very good book about the birth of mysticism in cultures around the world at the moment. Yahweh - the name the Israelites gave to their god of the Old testament - was a warrior. he smote every other pussy god of every other tribe (they believed in other gods, they just refused to worship them).
But then in about 500-600BCE (i think), when the Israelites were exiled to Babylon and Jeremiah was moping about, Yahweh became a more peaceful god (presumably because he had failed to stop the Babylonians, despite being a warrior). it all depends on how he was seen at the time.
