Don't get me wrong, I like the pan-european ideals and all that, but the way they wanna accomplish their goals is just discusting.
I wonder how long the EU is going to exist if Britain goes out. Maybe the EU will shrink, only encompassing Germany, France and Belgium lol.

and maybe france if they get rid of Hollande
f*ck the south! Go the North!!!
==> being serious for a moment, if the EU would fall apart, one of the first new unions you should expect is probably the BeNeLux.

Not being serious for a moment, why do I suddenly suspect you had a hand in creating the BeNeLux map here on CC...<smile>

And hey limeys! Britain is no longer #1! Haha, you lost your empire and we pretty much took it over!
And as has happened to so many other empires, and which will happen to the US too probably:
imperial overstretch ==> bankruptcy ==> fall of empire
america's empire is already growing weaker and other nations like China and India are rapidly gaining strength
From bondage to spiritual faith.
From spiritual faith to great courage.
From courage to liberty.
From Liberty to abundance.
From abundance to complacency.
From complacency to apathy.
From apathy to dependence.
From dependence back to bondage.
While I hesitate to respond to this childish poem, in fear of giving it any kind of credibility whatsoever...
I would say you and others are more trying to reverse the positive growth due to education, and instead push a:
Spiritual ignorance to practical ignorance trend.
Not to mention, your so called spiritual leaders of the day, used their faith to justify bondage....and the ones who are the most "spiritual" regionally....were the biggest "bondagers" of them all.
It was freedom of religion, which very much includes freedom from it that removed us from bondage, not the other way around.
yeah, well, you know, the Abolitionist's also kinda used the Bible and their faith to help free the slaves too.
I think you have some thinking to do on the matter. I'm not touching anything else in your post because your premise is flawed from the start. "childish" comments withheld.

well to be honest, it doesn't per sé have to be spiritual faith, even though it is the often the case.
When people live miserable lives, they'll often hold onto any kind of hope. Religion does offer hope in the form of a promise of heaven for example, but there are other possibilities too. Here are two examples:
- slaves buying their freedom
- the chinese try and calm their population by feeding them hope of a better financial future for their children
It is only when this hope breaks down, that people start to snap and revolt(not all of course, some people are more cowardess then others).

Good points.
However, I was not making those points in the case of slavery. I was sharing America's history and future on the topic of rise and fall of empire and a general statement about generations.
AAfitz turned it into slavery and then insults about a post he could not even begin to understand. But that's normal around here

Is that why you've taken to not responding to valid questions...because you could not even begin to understand them?

you guys are not even able of keeping your own country together and most of you flemmish want to split it in 2, now you want to become benelux?

Hey there was a dutch guy that wanted an anexation of the flemish part of belgium into holland, and some wallons want to be part of france. Belgium hasn't had a government for ages, maybe the country should stop existing? Switzerland and Belgium have always been a mystery for me, so small and yet with several official languages and cultures comming from their neighbours....
The EU is all about the germany-france axis anyway, and since the rome treaty in 1957 we've all lived peacefully, the only problems were due to independentists all around europe wanting their region to become countries...

I don't know if you realise it, but the BeNeLux predates the EU. And that should not be astounding. The world is different for a smaller country than it is for a bigger one. Larger countries can rely on their strong domestic markets. This isn't the case for us smaller ones. We are forced to be extremely internationally-oriented if we wish to become wealthy. It is in this regard that the BeNeLux countries have shared a strong mutual intrest.
1943: monetary parity deal
1944: agreement of one tariff between the 3
1948: free transport of goods within BeNeLux and uniform tariffs towards the rest of the world
1953: Uniform trade policy towards the rest of the world
1954: free transport of capital
1958: establishment of BeNeLux economic union
1960: people can move freely between the 3 countries without customs
...
Keep in mind that the EU only started in 1958 and Schengen only in 1985.
So as you can see, even if the EU would fall apart, the BeNeLux would still have their common agreements. It is even very probable that many of them would be renewed and maybe intensified. Though I do agree with you that the current EU is mostly about the Franco-german axis.

Indeed, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.
