well i dont no who i want to win now
Portugal - Well ronaldo is a sly cheat, did anyone else see him wink and smile at the other portugese players when rooney got sent off
Germany - Same what andy said - no fun when host nations win (except for 1966 england of course lol)
Italy - Cheated their way to a penalty last minute against Australia
France - Well no one likes the french...
I am very surprised that arguably the top 3 teams (Argentina, England and Brazil - not Ukraine
) all went out in the quarter finals

Chances of winning the world cup in order =
1. Germany: on home soil + only side playing positive football, if they can crack Italy looks likely they will go on to win.
2. France: High morale after two pretty convincing performances and victories over world class opposition, easy to see them in the final, hard to see them beating Germany but Italy may be possible.
3. Italy: Steady performers over their games so far. Anyone who thinks they had ANY trouble beating Australia is a fool, that is how Italy win their games, pack the defense, win the ball on the edge of the box and break in the last 5 minutes. If they hadn't got the penalty they would pull back for 25 minutes and try again. It's negative, but effective. Germany will have a very hard time breaking them down and could lose by the dreaded 1-0.
4. Portugal: So far the poorest performers of the last four, but having Deco in their side really will make a difference. Hard to see them winning 2 games on the trot now though.

I've heard others say this, and to a degree I can understand it, but it isn't uncommon in the cup.
Previous hosts that won it all:
1998 France in France
1978 Argentina in Argentina
1974 Germany in Germany
1966 England in England
1934 Italy in Italy
1930 Uruguay in Uruguay
At least some of the teams have proven they can win away from home:
2002 Brazil in SK/Japan
1994 Brazil in USA
1990 Germany in Italy
1986 Argentina in Mexico
1982 Italy in Spain
1970 Brazil in Mexico
1962 Brazil in Chile
1958 Brazil in Sweden
1954 Germany in Switzerland
1950 Uruguay in Brazil
1938 Italy in France
Some didn't have to travel far though: Italy in Spain and France, Germany in Switzerland and Italy, Uruguay in Brazil and Brazil in Chile
Just some interesting history.
Some other interesting stuff:
This will be the first final without Brazil since 1990 (Germany v Argentina) and this will be the first final since 1982 with two European teams (Italy v Germany)
What a game. I liked the fact that it was end to end during OT. Italy pressed much more than Germany evidenced by difference in corners. Both teams had chances to win it in regulation and OT.
   for Klinsmann and his team. They played an amazing tournament exceeding all expectations. Hopefully the DFB extends his contracts and he stays with them through Euro 2008 and hopefully South Africa 2010.
I will now pull for the winner of tomorrows game. Not out of a dislike of Italy, but now that Germany is out I would rather see someone win the cup for the first time (Portugal) or second time (France). Besides that, if Italy wins they will have four titles, breaking their tie with Germany.

Of course France can "win" at soccer. It's running. No one is better at "running" than France.
