My point exactly. I never posted there and I never planed to, but what AK did was bullying plain and simple.

Here's a serious question - what's the big deal about post count and why should losing some of that number matter ? There's no scoreboard for that that I know of.

Is it better to have 10000 posts or 10 really good, meaningful posts ?

I'm not a fan of censorship, but I'm also not a fan of the absolutely pointless spamalot posts that seem to happen in so many threads. It has nothing to do with the people. I think Hector and Vincent and others are entertaining...just not in every thread.

That is my only point..I really don't care about post counts. But I had to point out to you that there was a ''scoreboard'' for it..

I, unlike you said, don't care and strongly beleive it is not important..

Most of us are more upset about losing our thread than post count. I could care less about my post count, but it was nice to have a thread to go to and post anything you felt like.

Even if Nephilim and company don't agree with the posts of Spamalot members, they MUST respect these people's right to voice their opinions. Unjustified acts driven by the need to demonstrate one's power are usually seen in dictatorships.

This is certainly lacks' site, but I do consider BOTH free members and premium members deserve respect and consideration. Arbitrary acts may be accepted in certain regimes; but in this situation i consider deleting Spamalot to be a lack of respect for the members of the group.

If the respect for other people is not a valid argument for you, you should at least wonder if this is good customer service. No matter how much members are paying, they are members of this site and have the right to enjoy the benefits that come with the membership. If there are games, members have the right to play the games; similarly, if there is a forum, they have the right to go and post there; if they were not supposed to talk about whatever they feel like, including non cc related topics, then the Social Lounge should NOT exist.

Had Spamalot being a place of bigotry, hate, rudeness and porn, I would understand these actions. However, I firmly refuse to accept a decision like this without a valid justification.

That's just my humble opinion.

I really don't get this at all. I thought iceman was a good mod. You wouldn't go demolish the Leaning Tower of Pisa, break down the great wall of china, burn down the Taj Mahal. Spamalot was conquer club's greatest landmark. Even more it was the favorite hang out of just about every premium account holder. I never talked there myself, but I feel the same as if someone decided to take the Statue of Liberty away.

To do this, it doesn't make sense. Nothing anyone could say would make me feel any different. I hope iceman gets the courage to try and defend himself, because if he doesn't say anything at all like he's done so far, he's just going to go down that much faster. The silence is just making me more sure that he has nothing to say in his defense and he knows he's screwed up royally.

i remember it was taken down beacuse of a couple of porn links and a few people that did go in there where treated with rudeness and i dont know about actual hate but there was a lote of sigs around about people like rank3 and twiggy there are others but i can not think of them off the top of my head

and also hector even said him self that yes they did have spamalot but they will not stop spaming other threads {he also said this about when he would or if he would be a mod. with all this said i think that right now no it should not have been destoryed BUT if it was taken away for a good reason {porn link so on and so fourth } then yes that was the last straw.

i'm posting here for some pretty simple reasons, at least one already stated: spamalot is presenting themselves as a bunch of persecuted innocents who kept to their own threads. that's obviously bullshit. i think it should be pointed out here for this reason: there are tons of folks who hate what has happened to the forums. a lot of them don't post or voice their opinions in other ways; there's a silent majority out there. spamalot is an extremely vocal minority. if lack is reading this thread, i think it might be a good place to let him know that some of us don't appreciate spamalot and feel that CC is worse b/c of all the spam.

now, as i also already said, my posts may not be quite appropriate here since this thread has to do w/ AK, moderating, etc. but there may be a correlation between all the irresponsible spamming and AK's actions. and anyway, this is probably a good spot to let lack hear the voices of disgust w/ all the spamming.

i don't know what your beef is, ab master, but these guys jack threads and screw up the forums all the time, and here they are saying that they only post in their own threads and a rogue mod is persecuting them. they should be called out for that. as for your other points: if AK or lack feel that spamalot needs to be reigned in for the good of CC, then such reigning-in isn't arbitrary or disrespectful. it would likely be good for business and for the community. you don't need to accept the decision; nobody asked you, eh? and you ask for justification....you probably don't know any of the details, do you? kinda presumptuous.....

People, I think you all are WAY over reacting, on both sides of the spectrum.

To those pro-spamalot, the mods are doing there job. Sometimes this job involves deleting threads which are considered harmful/whatever else isn't good for the forum.

Now before you start throwing full wine bottles at your computer screens, hear me out. What AK did was over the top. That being said, He was doing his job. While spamalot was like a community in itself (which I was a part of), the whole idea did get carried away a bit. Nobody expected it to turn out how it did. So my proposition to you: don't get too attached. Live, and let go. Seriously. This is just an online forum. Yes, you made friends, yes, you had good times, etc. But you could very easily take those someplace else.

Also, I believe that some of the reason behind the deletion is that it wasn't supposed to get longer than the "longest thread" thread. Which is understandable.


Now, to those anti-spamalot: This group of people were very tight-knit, and became friends. Yes, AK did go over the top. That has been established. But spamalot kept within their guidelines of witholding the span to one thread. There has been spam nuking in other threads. But those had started off topic, so I suppose everyone is to blame for that.
As I stated earlier, I believe that some of the reasoning behind the deletion is that AK didn't want it to be longer than the "longest thread" thread. So just let them start another thread.

And just thought that I'd point this out, if I'm not mistaken, AK didn't delete ASA (anti-spam alliance)
