make it like a dartboard with a 'bull' and 'double bull', two concentric circles... hold on...
Actually... I don't mind this idea, have an outer circle that connects to the 8 4 letter inner portions of each thought and another circle inside that and make it worth +1 to hold both.
Now... What to name each one...

I actually had all of this done at 12:30 today but could not get it uploaded because of other things.
OK here are the updates.
1) Make the background more red with more glow_DONE
2) Correct the word receive. in the bonus text_DONE
3) Tweak the army circles by toning down the edges and making the armies easier to read_DONE
4) Add explanation to the Thought bonus about adjacent territories_DONE
5) Add a center territory to the map so that there will be 42. This will make the game better for 3-6 player games. _DONE
I renamed the word MIND in the Knowledge area to the word LEARNING. I felt that everyone has a mind but not everyone has knowledge. The I changed the center ring (which still connects to all 8 thought allowing for same game play) to MIND. I chose mind because all of these thought originate from your mind. and in the center of MIND is REASON. I did this because what you have in you mind you use to reason reality.
Hope this works for everyone. Plus the names are small and it fits better.
Here are the pics and updated XML

I have not put in the +1 bonus yet. If we still are going to do that.
So what does everyone think?

I really think this Allied/Enemy thing needs be cleared up. You've got some room to squeeze in a small explanation. Maybe just highlight what makes Allied symbols and what makes Enemy symbols. That's my only real issue left with the map.
There's a few small things to consider... I'm not sure the gradient effect behind the thoughts in the legend are necessary or look that good to be honest. Possibly reduce the glow around the symbols as well, it stands out on some but not on others.

Yeah, the ally enemy thing can't be blown off. I understand it (I think) but only because I read a couple of explanations in the thread. Would it work to move the enemy explanation to a position where it's not in relation to the ally arrow? Just the one red line connecting two points and labeled enemy?
Oh... maybe a little much on the red glow... it gets too bright in the upper right corner. Maybe a slower transition from lower left to upper right, with a darker finish?

I don't understand what you mean explain what makes Allied/ Enemy symbols. All of the territories with symbol s can be allied or enemy depending on which ones you control. Look at the circle chart. Enemies are connected by the red line. Neighboring symbols. Allies are connected bu the green line.
I will fix the red line and just make it touch 2 symbols not related to the green line.Nikolai wrote:Yeah, the ally enemy thing can't be blown off. I will also set the gradient to flow slower from the bottom left corner.

I understand the system, but I didn't at first. If it was to get quenched in its current state you're going to cause a lot of confusion. In my opinion, the first time somebody looks at the map the legend is going to imply you only get a +2 bonus for the three highlighted Ally symbols and -1 for the two highlighted Enemy symbols. I don't think it's clear that the key is just an example of a bonus, I think it implies it is the only bonus.
I know where you're coming from, I have the same problem with Conquer 4. The system seems simple enough to you and the people who have read this thread, but I doubt the majority would understand it and they may lose games because of it.
How many possible Allied bonuses can one person get at a time?
Is the Enemy bonus essential to gameplay? I haven't played the map (obviously) and a negative 1 bonus isn't that big a deal, but what happens in the unlikely scenario someone starts the game with 3 Enemy bonuses?
I seem to be a lone voice though, so maybe it's just me.

Well the foundry actually seems to be more of a small community then everyone coming to comment, and you are pretty well respected here.
Anyway, to answer the question you could have 8 at once with just 8 territories giving +16, however doing that would also give you the 8 enemy pairs so you would be getting +8 for holding every symbol. Regardless holding all 8 at one time would probably be extremely difficult.
Starting with 3 enemy bonuses... I guess in a 3 player game that could happen most often, although in a 3 player game on this map (42 territories / 3 players = 14 which is 4 armies per turn). So while you would be in really bad shape you wouldn't be completely screwed.

so far im lovin this map. However, i dont like the nevitive armys (just my opinion, never liked them, on anny maps.)
I dont know, I guess it makes it a lot harder to dominate the map. wich is good for playability, but the games might take a long time.
I think the center circle, Reason, should get a +1. or make it so that if you hold mind, and reason, you get +1. that would make it harder for someone to start with both of them, and therebuy getting a bonus to start.
