There's going to be a preliminary round for those outside the top 8 seeds (or could it even stretch to 16 this time?) and it presents a great opportunity for any new clan to cut their teeth in a community-recognised tournament and, who knows, move into the next round.

Just my 2 cents' worth, as it may prevent bad vibes at being rejected/overlooked.

I agree that we should welcome essentially all clans, i think a line should be drawn i just dont know where. I think it should be lower than 2 complete wars though.

At this point there have been about 5 pages worth of discussion back and forth in the CLA. The intent of the 2 completed challenges is to assure that the progression runs smoothly and clans do not fold in the process. Those who have been around long enough remember the second clan league where two or three new clans who were in Division 2 folded out of the gate and it made D2 rough to run. There are arguments on both sides right now. While the great thing about this event is that anyone who participates can win, being a steady clan that can keep up with the game load is a requirement than cannot be overlooked. I sort of expect clans who are in their second challenges (and at least half way through those) without hiccups to be allowed in, but I would expect it to be on a case by case basis. Some of the new clans, like OSA, are extremely active and look like they can handle the load. Others have struggled to keep things moving in their challenges, so a tough decision will have to be made by Chuck. If a clan isn't in for this season because they don't meet the requirement, don't fret. Keep getting involved in challenges, after your 2nd, apply to the CLA, get involved in the next clan league season (a lot of fun), and you will certainly be well qualified for this event next time around.

I don't know Dutch, but in your clan name, De Veroveraars der Lage Landen, the De is capitalized and the der is not. To the 95% of CCers that don't know a word of Dutch, including whoever started calling you DVLL (I imagine it became widespread with Clan Rank, don't know if it was around before that), using the capitalized word makes much more sense ;) . So no reason to go crazy on everyone, I wouldn't expect you to be able to abbreviate Japanese correctly. Hopefully with the Clandemonium map out people will get it right more often.

I will not go crazy  just wanted to correct the error. And my Japanese is indeed a bit rusty.

Japanese is a syllabary and can't be abbreviated.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Is there a reason why most of the top clans are skipping this?

Some need a break, some are afraid to lose. ;)

Seriously though, burn out happens to everyone but it seems to be more visible for a top clan. When a new clan gets burned out, they dissolve. When a top clan gets burned out, they sit out of events for a while and recharge. Someone like KORT has been going non-stop for over a year against top level competition the whole time. They were in the CL2 play-offs last year, are currently in the finals for CC1, and in the play-offs for CL3. They earned the right to sit one out if they choose to. Other clans have some issues with not enough active members right now, so taking something of this caliber on is very risky and puts an even heavier burden on those who are active.

Wild Geese would like to formally show interest in playing in this cup-

We know there is a lot of debate about this so let us know as soon as possible, then we can make other plans.

Then why don`t you delay it for a few months?

I mean, if one or the other of the top clans sit out it`s not really a big deal, monkeys skipped the last CC after all. But if most of them are, as it is right now, then what`s the point of doing it all?

Speaking of which, it looks like it really is too much to play both CC and CL in the same year. Don`t you think it would be easier to all if we would play the cup one year and then the league another?

Beause the clan community is not designed to bow at the feet of the top clans, this event takes over a year (last years is still running) that's a commitment some clans don't want to make. Regardless of who participates the winner will have something to be proud of. There is no reason to think this cup as it is right now with the teams involved would not be competitive and that is all you can ask for in a competition.

If top clans want to rest of their laurels let them. It's hard to continue to rank someone amongst the top when they aren't playing. Experience in clan games helps and if they choose to not participate it will only decrease the perceived distances in the top clans.

Yes, a clan is not bigger than the event. There will be no asterisks beside any of the achievements. It is what it is, no matter who plays or sits.

They are all of the active Left4Dead members with a few players from BPB and Nemesis. But because they are technically a "new" clan it is being discussed if they should be allowed to forgo the 2 challenges needed, and if so, where they should be positioned. This is another one of those very long discussions in the CLA right now.

Left4 dead are transformed to WildGeese.
Tehnicaly,we are new in name, all other are same( like lubawski notice)
I dont know what will be decision, but if we are eligible for play, you can use results from L4D,because these is our history results.

Or maybe the Evil Paratroopers of London! :D

Not to ruffle anyone's feathers, I'm just joking of course.
