I did read the paragraph, and although you brougt some interesting points, I think i will have to stick with spanish and portuguese names, as having a map that uses 6 or so languages on it would be confusing for anyone that knows the region. Anyone else wouldnt care. And, if i used only Spanish and portuguese names, people who know the region wouldnt be so confused and just like the previous option, people who didnt wouldnt care.

It's looking really good, maybe change the borders by the rivers (possibly a darker blue) and add in trivial decor (like a ship or two) in the sea.

well , I totally agree with steve monkey , he is completely right ! And I really don`t understand what you say bad speler , people who doesn`t know won`t care , right , but you say that people who know the region might get confused...I think , if they get confused they DO NOT know the region ! Everybody who has been there knows that it is spelled LLEIDA or OURENSE or BIZKAIA . And then , it is just a territory you have to conquer whatever name or spelling it has ! There are things like middle earth....I have never been there and I am quite sure I will never get there , but wether it`s spelled middil erth or whatever , when I am in that game I know I have to conquer it and there will be definitely no confusion about that !

Oh , and such comments as as it came from boberz...it just shows how narrowminded most (not all ! ) english-speaking people are....but actually I prefer an all english map to a mixed portuguese- spanish one ignoring the reality !

no that was meant to be a happy medium, i want the names to be in Spanish and Portugese but thought that if nobody was going to agree i tried to calm the situation (i had just come out of one of qwerts threads so was already fairly enraged)

i think the map it is ok, but if you need information:
catalan,galician and basque are official languages, not dialet.
catalan is spoken in catalunya ( 7000.000 millon people), valencia( 5000.000 mll people) balearic islands ( 1500.000 mll people) and any part of aragon. and this language it not residual, it is very much used.
lerida=lleida
gerona=girona
barcelona=barcelona
tarragona=tarragona
basque language is spoken less,only in basque country and part of navarra.
basque country=euskadi
vizcaya=bizkaia
alava=araba
galician languages is spoken only in galicia but it si like catalan, it is very used by many people of the 3000.000 millions of people in galicia.
orense=ourense
la coruña= a coruña
it is only information, i think the map it is ok.

They are official only in the regions were they are spoken. The only language that is official for the whole of Spain in Spanish (i.e. Castillian). All the nation knows how to speak Spanish although in some regions like Catalonia Spanish is official alongside Catalan.

jeje if you do not finish the map soon, perhaps it is necessary to do one new map by the division of Spain.

the capitals are like almost hidden
make them white and they will come out
or give them a borderline, contour
its better to use pale colors for the colored numbers of the armies
look at bubblemachine or crazy-one-way

I understand that you are Catalan maybe and want Spain to break in little pieces but that will never happen. Don't worry the geography of Spain won't change by the time BadSpeler finishes this map.
The only problem that Spain has got is Zapatero...the worst European politician I have seen in a while now...and he was lucky to get elected because of 11 March or else Aznar's party would have won.
Btw I have been to Barcelona...wonderful city...will definitely visit again.

So far, im sticking with Spanish and Portuguese, as those are national official languages, whereas Catalan and other languages are simply regional.

It looks like an amazing map to me. Too many habe too few areas and are too simple coming out recently. This one seems great.

I think the map looks great.
I'm waiting for it to go live now.
No more name changes please.
I'm Portuguese but I worked in Spain for a couple of months (in Girona), doing a banking application for "Caja de Girona". As such I'm more than aware of all the language questions.
We could go on debating forever if Bad Speller should use Portuguese and Spanish only or all the other dialects.
Since that discussion is a never ending one, I would either put a Poll or just go with the Map Creator decision.
A few sugestions

Please change "Tras-os-montes" to "Ribatejo" wich means something like "upper Tagus River", it is more adequate because it includes all the north of the country. In fact it's the biggest river of the Peninsula and a reference wich splits the North and the South of Portugal. And, you see, Tras-os-montes is "only" the northeastern region, big in size, but the second least populated.
Please consider changing "Viseu" to "Coimbra" although they are close to each other, the former is far bigger and important, in fact its known as the third biggest city of Portugal.
Hope you understand my english, it may sound rude, because i barely speak it.
These are the recommendations from someone who doesn't live in none of the towns or regions mentioned. I'm just trying to help.
And congratulations for this map. It's lovely.
