Hamas appears to be emerging from tunnels and rubble in Gaza to show that it never lost control of most of the area despite fifteen months of war. While Hamas suffered many blows from the IDF, it was able to recruit new members, and it even kept trucks and vans ready to return to the streets and show its presence.

Videos purported to be from Gaza show the group in white pickup trucks driving around. The videos show large groups of armed men waving to crowds or standing and sitting on vehicles that are parading them through the streets. Hamas police, an arm of the terrorist group, are also reappearing. They have been around throughout the war, but their presence has not been as clearly felt in some areas.
Throughout the war, some NGOs and other international organization officials complained that the lack of Hamas police, or their being targeted by the IDF, was leading to a breakdown in law and order. In essence, many groups linked to the international community that work in Gaza prefer working with Hamas and its police.

The group never disappeared and was never dismantled.

Israel on Saturday released 200 Palestinian prisoners, including 121 serving life sentences for terror attacks that have killed dozens, in return for four female soldiers held by Hamas, according to two lists published by the terror group.

Crowds of Palestinians erupted in joy and chanted praise of Hamas as they welcomed dozens of prisoners who arrived in Ramallah aboard buses.

Stepping off the buses in gray tracksuits, many prisoners were raised onto the shoulders of people waiting, while others walked through the crowd.

Channel 12 news reported that prisoners freed to Gaza were greeted with chants of “We are the people of Muhammad Deif,” referencing Hamas’s late military chief, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Strip in July.

Saturday’s release is the second under the ceasefire, after Sunday saw Hamas free three civilian women in return for 90 Palestinian security prisoners — mostly women and minors.

Yoel Alter, 35, an Israeli citizen, was arrested near a government center for the care of minors in Guatemala City, the police confirmed. Earlier this year, El Salvador announced the arrest of cult member Jonathan Emanuel Cardona Castillo, a 23-year-old from El Salvador who was wanted on an international arrest warrant and had fled to El Salvador. He is accused of severe child abuse.
