If you want to be taken seriously, don't suggest a forfeit button.

Yeah!

Just played a Trench fs manual speeder, was quite fun for my first 1v1 Trench, but it took 6 rounds to finish after we both knew I was going to win in round 4.

we need this, if you got an escalating hive game, where a random map was hive

Shocker ... I agree with Chap.

Go do a Game Finder search and check out the oldest game on this site (I assume it's still active). Those guys have been battling it out for years out of sheer pride. It's not worth their points or their time for any other reason. In my limited time browsing this forum, that game has been cited as a reason to have a forfeit or a draw button implemented. The best we got was round limits, which is fine by me.

You have premium. If you know a game's over, especially a speed game, sometimes it's best to DB. Other times, just drop and go. It takes 5 seconds of your time once a day. The powers that be have pretty clearly shown by inaction that there won't be a forfeit button.

There won't be a forfeit button. It's been abused far too many times. Moving to rejected.

I thought this was a good idea too. Do we take playing this game so seriously that we don't want the convience of a surrender button. In effect you can already drop out of games by not taking your turn 3 times, how is that any different to having a surrender button? It has the same net result. It is just more polite to surrender then to just stop playing altogether...

Surrender button

Post by PrivateParts »

I would like to suggest a surrender button. Sometimes you know if you have lost, sometimes a quick game last three hours longer then expected. In a trench game the game can be obviously lost but it can take 6 turns to wrap it up.

If only I could give out medals, or if only you could just move threads yourself.

With a surrender button, the monkeys who live and breathe for points could create multis, play themselves, surrender to themselves, and dump points from these straw men to one account, pumping up that score virtually without limit. With no button, they have to wait days for these phony wins, and monkeys are not a patient lot.

It's funny, I was just predicting to myself that "surrender/quit/resign" button clamorings were gonna at least triple in frequency with the advent of trench warfare. Sorry PrivateParts, it's never going to happen. Do a search in the "Suggestions" forum to see why.

Because it can be really annoying. There is a difference between actually winning a game by eliminating everyone, and logging on and finding out everyone surrendered.

It would also be open for abuse to point dump. Join up to 100's of games and surrender each and every one of them.

I think this is a cracking idea especially in 1 v 1 speed games on maps like das schloss when it is obvious the game is won or lost, it just saves time

:x!

If you know the map is going to get one-sided soon enough, impose a round-limit to save your time. 20 is reasonable for something like Das Schloss, I think. Otherwise, you know you're taking the risk of a long game on those game types.

Regardless, resign buttons lead to abuse no matter the settings, and has been rejected time and time again. Moving to rejected.

In 1v1 on Das Schloss, there are 3 pretty easy ways to make the game end quickly

1. If round limits are short enough, DB
2. Make clear to your opponent that you are conceding by either keeping your stack back on your paratroopers or moving large stacks into access point where they will be killed by the killer neutral there.
3. (My favorite) use your stacks to help knock down militarilager and Kom Wilhelm while opponent goes for the other 2 objectives.

Here is what was written for those who don't want to search:

This feature is not something that can be introduced by a script or add-on (the normal subject matter here in the Tools & Enhancements forum), but only by the site itself, so it should really be in the Suggestions forum. I will move it there, where, I regret to inform you, PrivateParts, it will no doubt be soon merged with the existing topic found in the Archived Rejected Suggestions subforum.
