Don't know if I am too late with this comment or not but I think the biggest problem with the map as-is is unclarity regarding kingdoms. More than once I have wiped out an attack force by mistakenly attacking the 10 neutrals in Barbarians 6 when I meant to go after the 1 in Ministello 6 (and several other players tell me they have done the same).
The revamp does indeed help with some clarity issues, and I do like the overall feel of the map, but perhaps we can fix this issue?

What do you suggest?

I do that all the time too there, and with LM 2/Rebel 2. Only thing I can think of is changing the numbers?

Maybe you could change the numbering in Lake Minstello. The only place where I consistently get confused is around Barbarians 7 or Lake Minstello 5, and I want to attack Lake Minstello 6, but instead go with Barbarians 6.

Start the numbering of LM on the right on the map?

Could you have a slightly different colored font for each kingdom?

Thats a good idea, but it may have an extreme effect when the map change over happens putting armys to the other side of the lake?

I know we've changed names of countries before while maps were in play. Did it cause issues then? I think switching will solve the mis-attack problems in the long run. Looking at it, I don't see any of the same numbers that would border each other if switched.
Oh, and this thread was hard to find when I tried to navigate back to it.... should it be in final forge?
edit... oh I see what you're saying.... not knowing how those things work, I'll leave it up to you guys to figure out the logistics!

Wicked my dear you are a funny woman sometimes
Im sure lack wil have a way of making sure that a country name change doesnt effect an revamp change over. But im assuming its not been done on that kind of scale before.
Would you be so kind as to push teh issue to the side until I get a chance to ask him about it?

uhh, me saying "I'll let you guys figure it out" would be pushing it aside.

I only have time to come up with the ideas, not the boring details of implementation.

I see, well renaming them is a very good idea that I hope to do now:)

This is my favorite map Gimil, and I love the new look.
One other thing that might make it look a little better would be to have all of the territory #'s in the top right of each territory. Some of them are bunched up, mainly in the Northern Plains.
Keep up the good work!

Hmmm - I seem to remember Lack saying once that the logs are based on index...
So changing the names is OK - as long as you don't change the order in the XML file...

I appreciate that the legend - including the line I'm referring to here - has already been revised in the revamp.
However, if it's not too late, I think that:
"Two kingdom territories gives a bonus of +1"
would be better as:
"Each two kingdom territories give a bonus of +1"
(adding the word 'Each' at the start and losing the 's' from 'gives')

It actually reads:
"+1 for every two territories within a kingdom."

just a quick one ... although this is one of my favourite maps at the moment, i'm still glad to see these changes, which are all only going to improve the gameplay just that little bit more. well done.
But, while most the graphic changes are great, i only take issue with the alteration of the green of the grass and fear the new bright grass green is going to be a bit of a strain on the 'ol eyes - i much preffered the previous colour which looks much more realistic and pleasing to the eyes over a long period. The "emptiness" of this map is not a problem at all (even if i said so when it was been created), and the battles on these open planes have been exhilirating so far ... everyone, play this with fog!!!
Haven't the time to read through this recent discusion, so please forgive if i'm repeating.
Hahahahaha - actually - on second thoughts, i mostly like the original for graphics!
Cheers, goodluck!

NEW:
OLD:
Pictures for easy comparison purposes...
I quite like what you've done with the river and the lake and such. I think that looks really nice. The game play changes are also cool.
However... I MUCH prefer the colour of green on the old map. The new one just seems so unnatural and bright and overbearing... It doesn't have to be exactly like the old one, just please make is softer... It's too hard on my eyes.
One the old one, you have the wake from the bridge struts. I think it looks cool and you should put it in the new one too
With the territory numbers, maybe you should make the castle terit numbers more yellow, so they're easier to distinguish between the regular terits. Maybe if you put some colour in the legend too, like:
"... auto deploy on
village(s)"
"... auto deploy on
castle(s)"
or something like that...
Lastly, on your small map on the new one, you're missing a few bridges.

Gimil,
Would you please consider extending the left side of the wall around Realm of Might? I would like to see it go past where Might 1 and 2 meet Fol 3 and 4 all meet. It's slightly confusing as to which of these 4 territories can attack each other. I'm pretty sure you intend for only Fol 3 and Might 1 to attack (and of course they can attack their other borders).
Best,
Laci
