I must admit, the great Barfus duo going down after such stellar showing in Random League has me baffled*Pixar* wrote:zzz any updates? Upsets I should know about?

6/8 Matches Winner's bracket is sent out
6/8 Matches Loser's bracket is sent out.
Good luck!

That's on me... I forgot to make it 20 round limit. ugg.Nut Shot Scott wrote:Swimmerdude99 wrote:Still waiting on a couple matchups to finish from the first bracket, once they do, I'll get the final 4 Matches sent out.

Not sure if you can call it an upset rather than just difficult seeding, but Shannon and jimboy beat T4 and rousseau.*Pixar* wrote:zzz any updates? Upsets I should know about?
That's a pretty good one! And yeah, you're right no one has an easy matchupExtreme Ways wrote:Not sure if you can call it an upset rather than just difficult seeding, but Shannon and jimboy beat T4 and rousseau.*Pixar* wrote:zzz any updates? Upsets I should know about?
The winner of the winner's bracket final plays against the winner of the loser's bracket final for the tournament victory. In some cases (idk how swimmer will execute here), if the winner's bracket team then loses the grand final they get a so called "bracket reset" which prompts a rematch. The term "double elimination" is often used to describe these brackets: lose twice, you're out.Heads or tails wrote:Can I ask what is the point in the losers bracket?
I could see a point if the winner entered the quarter finals of the winners bracket or something... But there is nothing to gain from winning the losers bracket? You would still rank lower than someone who won first round and lost second. Yet winning round 1 is substantially less difficult than winning the losers bracket. Just doesn't make sense to me. An explanation would help. Or is it just what it is?
What he said ^^ If you take a look at the challonge link you should be able to see that described in how the winner of the loser's bracket gets to play for the championship.Extreme Ways wrote:The winner of the winner's bracket final plays against the winner of the loser's bracket final for the tournament victory. Well that's just Genius. Whoever came up with that system should be congratulated. Here I was thinking I was playing for nothing. Definitely a step ahead of my thinking.Swimmerdude99 wrote:What he said ^^ If you take a look at the challonge link you should be able to see that described in how the winner of the loser's bracket gets to play for the championship.Extreme Ways wrote:The winner of the winner's bracket final plays against the winner of the loser's bracket final for the tournament victory. I prefer the term 'Playing just for fun' bracket instead of 'losers' bracket, or even 'A for Affort' bracket. or 'winners-in-waiting' bracket.Swimmerdude99 wrote:Second round of losers bracket is finally coming to a close. winners-in-waiting is most accurate.hopalong wrote:I prefer the term 'Playing just for fun' bracket instead of 'losers' bracket, or even 'A for Affort' bracket. or 'winners-in-waiting' bracket.Swimmerdude99 wrote:Second round of losers bracket is finally coming to a close.
