The preseason top-40 poll is posted with Maryland topping the list. Defending champion Villanova comes in ranked No. 19, while the Big-12 has three teams in the top-10.
The initial list is based on CC ranks only, while future polls will be off the RPI formula (see post for details).
I've chosen to break it off at the top 40 teams this year, as a way to measure each team's performance against quality opponents (a factor In the RPI formula).
Working on getting the first set of games out...granted its a couple days later than I had hoped, but I'm looking to get onto a regular schedule for next week to keep us on pace with the season.
Schedules and standings will also be posted shortly.
Look for fresh news posts at the top of this thread throughout the tournament, and have fun with it...feel free to make your own "special reports" in the thread as we go along.
good luck to all

The first 18 games on the left side of the schedule have been sent out along with opening games in the 2K Sports Classic and the Paradise Jam tourneys...I'll work on the other games Thursday.
Note: if you are playing in a tournament this week, those games are on neutral maps with settings flat, chained, foggy. Also, winners of each regular-season tournament earn the "6th-man" power up for us at the end of the year in the March Madness playoff phase.

All right the game 1 set has been sent out to everyone...good luck as we get the season underway.
Also, a note to all coaches...enjoy your holidays and vacations over the course of this tournament, but it would be smart to fire me a pm if you're going to be away for an extended period...if I see a team idle for a week or two, I'll go to the reserve list for a replacement.
Of course, many of us use account sitters while we're away, which is probably an even better option

thanks and have fun, flex

I'm very impressed with the organization and overall layout of this tournament. I have no doubts this will be both an enjoyable and smoothly run tournament. Nice job flex.

If I reserve, can I change map/settings from the person who drops out?

I was going to wait another day, but yes, when checking through the games a bit ago I noticed a handful of players that had yet to join any of their maps...please try to join in a timely manner. In a tournament of this size, it is difficult to send reminders.
I'm hoping to get Game 2s sent out sometime over the weekend, and then settle into a regular Tuesday/Friday release schedule for the remainder of the season.

Good job on the preseason rankings - Good idea doing it based on player ranks - But if I may recommend next year doing it based on the previous season then I think that'd be better.

It would be hard for him to do. There is usually a good chance that people might not re join the following year. There is no reason to give someone or other people a easier RPI because the new player might not be equal to the person he is replacing. This years is fair since they are the top 40 player points.

Reminders have been sent out to eight players, who have yet to join any of their Game 1 set. Try to be somewhat patient, perhaps people are away for Thanksgiving/vacations, but I do ask that throughout the tourney you fire me off a quick pm if you're going to be away, so I don't accidentally replace a head coach that still wanted to play.
thanks, flex
I'm working on finalizing the entire season schedule this weekend and am hoping to be able to post updated results and standings by early next week.

the cream will rise to the top anyway, but Villanova has now made it to the final four two years in a row-and won it last year--We are now on a mission--Taking a nice first game win to extend the unbeaten streak to:
18 gamesHeck if we win our next game our winning streak will match our rank of 19--that would be cool

Thanks for the updates everyone...and on the RPI stuff...it's only as valuable as any preseason poll...which is to say it doesn't mean a whole lot this early...as the season plays out the RPI ranks should be a good measure of where teams rank. Of course none of that matters if you win your conference tourney and keep winning maps through March Madness...that's why college hoops is so much fun

hey flex, first i loved this tournament last year and this year it will be even better. i appreciate all the hard work you are putting into it.
Secondly i had a question. I am Nebraska and am currently playing 3 games in the Puerto Rico Tip off on the Haiti map... does each game count as a separate game...example if i go 2-1 in the 3 games is my record then a combined 1-0 or am i actually 2-1? hope this makes sence

Each game on your schedule is a three-map breakdown (see scoring formula)...whoever comes out on top in the scoring formula for each matchup gets the win. So after those three maps you will get a final score (something like 82-68) and you're record would be 1-0 or 0-1.

ok gotcha, understood the scoring but missed that you added the 3 scores together... lol
