wow, this could make for an incredible map!

when i have time, i'll try to check and see if there's anything historically interesting about the region....

if someone took this up, i'd definitely support it.

i am not good at drawing and such, so i would love someone to make this map, i'm glad you showed interest in it, it's an actuall city in holland and it's founded somewhere in the medieval period.

i will see if i can find you any more specific historical information.

the city is called 'Zwolle' in holland and it's still a very big city, the image i posted here is an old map of Zwolle (around 1652 A.D.)

i will make a topic about it if you like, here is the link:

wat if we had a map w/ only 2 territorys? it could be a 1 on 1 dice battle (not for the idiots who think the dice are really rigged, of course) we could have each territory strt w/ like 100 armies and they could just battle it out.

Any thoughts?

Rigged dice or not, that would be purely luck. So NO.

thats the point! purely luck

the one who will start the game will always win, so no

well its still luck b/c who knows who will start? its not always the person on top. and just b/c u have an extra die, doesnt mean youll win

I remember one a while back, I'm trying to find it for you.

yes. many MANY people have suggested it. and this belongs in the map ideas sticky at the top of this forum.

Oh ok. I didn't see it in the map ideas thread. It doesn't seem like an especially difficult or controversial one to make, but I am not a map artist.

I have the impression noone ever reads the map ideas thread, but feel free to move this one over there.

Actually, lots of people read it. I have been in there for the past few days developing my most recent map concept (the oasis----concept map thread). Most people, if they are looking for a map idea, stop in there and browse around.

Theres probably been at least 30 new posts in there in the past 2 days. plenty of people visit it.

so many people have attempted to make maps like that, where the first player gets some insane advantage and automatically wins.

how to make a map wrote: A map must provide balanced game play. It should be reasonably clear that the player that draws the first turn does not have a significant advantage, nor should it be likely that any player will be eliminated in the first round of a game.

Its in the rules. unfair maps like that just won't be created.

Why would anyone want to play on a map based on luck anyway?

ehh... you could ask the Doodle Assassins group. (I'm part of the group).

8 players, Doodle Earth, Assasin, Speed.
Its about as close to luck as you could possibly get with the current settings.

I think its popular because:
A. it goes so fast, you dont really know what happened (most end before round 3).
B. you win close to 150 points every time you win.
C. It is brutally addicting...

---im gonna go make a thread about it in the group.

I'm actually in that clan as well... though I kicked that addiction, hehe. But even that requires skill. There are people who are win more often than others, because they're better at it. The map baggins is talking about might as well be a coin toss.

Hawaii Map

Has anyone yet proposed a map based on the Hawaiian Islands? Bonuses awarded by island; boundaries are simple to place. I can't draw for my life but the image on this site shows the islands, with some of the subsections listed:

http://gohawaii.about.com/library/maps/blclickable_maps.htm

Anyone with decent visual skills want to pick this up?

Merging with map ideas thread.

In future if you dont intend to carry out a map idea yourself this is where the thread goes.

Equal Start Map

by autogreg
With this map everyone would get the same start (similar to Feudal). I also like auto deploy from feudal. I think there should be a severe penalty for the center because it is too important to let one person control cheaply. I have no problem with geography and your drop playing a role int the game, but I would like to play a map from time to time where that was not a factor. This image is simply the first thing that came to mind for the concept. I don't want attack routes between continents because then when you are playing with less than 8 players, and one of the continents is a nuetral, there would be an advantage to being located next to it.
