Resign option

Hi
Could I suggest a resign option?
Sometimes there is absolutely no chance at all anymore and the worst part is no one wants to or could wipe you out and you are stuck in that game turn after turn after turn... you get the picture.
A resign or surrender option will be great.

It has been suggested many times and it will not be implemented.

Concede the Game button

Hi:

I wondered if anyone had suggested a "Concede the Game" button for CC. I think everyone has been in a 1 v 1 game where the outcome is inevitable, but because of neutrals and other factors, the game drags on. A "Concede the Game" button , with mandatory "Are you sure?" popup (double check), I think would facilitate CC play. Thanks.

With kind regards, Tobi

Yes, it's been considered and rejected; if I remember the thread, the reason was too much potential abuse.

Since this could not be done from a tool/enhancement, but would have to be done by the site, this should be suggested in the Suggestions forum. Then, when you searched there (for "Surrender"), you would see that this has been suggested many times, and is now perhaps the most merged topic in the Rejected Suggestions subforum. I hope this doesn't sound [i]too[/] bitter, but I once made the mistake of posting to one of those topics, and now it resurfaces in View My Posts roughly once a week. On the face of it, it's not a bad suggestion. You're right, Tobi, we have all been there, but unfortunately, there are too many people who are so concerned with points that they would use this not as a last resort, but as a cheap way out of any situation that they didn't like (a bad drop, a run of lousy dice, a stupid move).

Was already here, and already gone. It was abused way too easily. If people didn't like their drop, quit. Didn't like the first turn, quit. Multi's were abusing it, friends were abusing it. Try searching through the forums to see if this has already been suggested.

Merging into the huge rejected pile.

Can you just put something in the form that says "Don't suggest a quit button...it won't happen"?

We had a discussion behind the scenes, and we decided to leave it out of the form.

Since it's obviously an automatic rejection, it seems like some sort of notice should be made.

I agree, but disagree with adding it into the form because then every other automatic rejection (rank segregation suggestions/flame wars etc.) would have to be included.

Some sort of stickied notice in the Suggestions Forum of absolute rejections would be a good idea. :)

Once you had the stickied notice, a reference in the form to it would be appropriate. "Don't bother submitting any suggestion that is covered by the ..."

I like it. Should I create a suggestion topic for it? :)

Resign button.

Would a " resign" feature be appropriate? It could be arranged so that once a game is down to 2 players and one decides for whatever reason - obviously going to lose, giving birth, won the lottery etc - that they want to quit. The advantages are obvious.

yes but you also have to consider the disadvantages. namely abuse of the point system. Which is why every time this has been suggested before it gets rejected, just like this one will.

Maybe I'm being naive ( ok " probably Im being naive" But I can't see from my limited experience how it would make a difference. If people wanted to arrange to throw/ fix a game they could do it anyway tho admittedly a little slower. Perhaps my view that the game is more important than the points is not shared by all in which case a speedier way of fixing games may seem more attractive.

Many Many players were abusing this, and it really made the game not very fun. Someone didn't like their drop? resign. Someone didn't like their drop? resign. Multi's were abusing this like crazy. Friends were using this. The disadvantages do outweigh the advantages. And imagine a 1v1 game. Someone gets poor rolls and resigns instantly. Where is the fun in that?

Where is the fun in playing a game in which you have no fighting chance?
