Have to agree also, a turn off button for that message would be great.

yeti, I was wondering if anything has happened with the pseudo-code I posted for the card set estimate?

Help Downloading BOB and a clickable map.

Ok, I don't know much about all this firefox, ajax and bob stuff. But I would like to learn how to install a clickable map and points program someone was talking about called bob. If someone could walk me through the process I would really appreciate it. I don't understand what it means to enable or disable AJAX, I installed firefox (the link took me to thunderbird, an email program, which I downloaded then realized I was looking for a web browser so I searched the site until I found the right download, someone should fix that link) and I have tried to click on the link that says install this script but it comes up with a Microsoft Compilation error. Is this a Windows Vista problem? Am I not finding the right link? Do I not have something enabled? If someone could give me click by click instructions I would appreciate it. I want the best version of BOB and a clickable map. thanks.

NEW FEATURES :
PleaseWait coding
- Please Wait messages are now shown whilst BOB is processing the game - This is here to prevent users from clicking stuff whilst loading... bear in mind that there are a few ways to click buttons - if you do then on your head be it.
- Note Pleasewait code runs for Textmap code too - so if you have TextMap on - you will see processing happening during turns.

Any way to turn this off? It's annoying to the point I want to downgrade to the last version and/or uninstall the thing altogether
agree whith this

me too really frustrating. i loose track of gear. and i want text map on but it makes playing speed games hard....
can we make it a on/off feature. or is there one i havent found yet

the please wait stuff was built in for a reason. bad things happen to BOB when you click certain buttons while it is loading.

Regarding missing turns, I could really use a feature that can calculate all missed turns for both active and eliminated players for a game.

I was wondering if anyone else would find this feature of use, and if it would be a difficult feature to implement? Perhaps with an on/off toggle so missed turns could be calculated as it is currently or for the entire game?

It doesnt make sense to look at an upgrade if only one individual has a use for it, so if anyone else see's a benefit or need for this could you please post.

Thanks very much,

Hmmm - could be done pretty easily... - I've got some work to do with the Elimination Summary (totalling Terminator points) - I could put a Missed Turn summary in there?

Please Wait is here to stay...

The problem is - that the Textmap bit for Conquer man is so horrifically slow - that it needs to be there - yet the textmap bit for other maps is *mostly* OK... I guess perhaps the best way would be to make the please wait bit there for TextMap & Conquerman... but not for any other maps...

Or perhaps I can do a time based system - if the Textmap thing is taking longer than X seconds - then show pleasewait... otherwise don't bother...

i just want it an option for text map.
i like to use it. but its just too frustrating playing 60 odd games...just makes stuff longer.
i dont play conquer man if that helps lol

the stars *** between territories and strength - what do those mean? I've noticed players either have 1,2 or 3 stars. Also, how is Card Set Estimate calculated and why would this be useful? The variance is so high that it seems to negate any mathematical value.

The *'s are the number of territories that you need to take from that player to drop his reinforcements by 1.

Card Set Estimate is calculated by some weird and wonderful formula that a bunch of people worked out... if you look back a few pages - then you will see a proposal for a new version.

lancehoch wrote:For a flat rate game, the probability of having a set should be multiplied by the average redemption value [(4+6+8+10)/4=7]. This gives you:
Card Set Estimate=7*(# of cards-2)/3*(# of cards>2)

This part is no good. You're more likely to have a mixed set than any other set.

Why is that? From what I have read, the probability for any card to be any color is exactly 1/3. The color of a card is not determined by any previous colors dolled out. Also, if you have a card, say red Congo on Classic, and you turn it in. At the end of your turn, you could receive green Congo as the card.

EDIT: I have looked at the numbers more closely, and you are correct. However, there does not seem to be a pattern as to how many of each type of set you can have:
Cards:___________________3___4___5
Single Color Set (per color):_1___9___31
Mixed Sets:______________6___36__150*
No Set:_________________18___18__0
*There are 60 ways to have a mixed set along with a single color set, but since the mixed set is worth more, it will be assumed that the mixed set is turned in.
Note: The ratio of mixed/single color is not constant, nor is the trend constant
6:1, 4:1, 4.8387:1.

The code could be set up to use these number, but then the numbers would have to be calculated for every possible number of cards. This becomes very complex at the point of 6 cards, since you can have two sets that do not use any of the same cards. There are also instances with the potential for a person to have 9 or even 14 cards at once (freestyle game, you have 4 cards and eliminate someone who has 5 cards so you then have 9 cards, then someone with 4 cards eliminates you before you can turn in a set, and they then have 14 cards). The code would then have to be able to account for that situation. I understand that my code is not perfect so if you or anyone else can come up with a way to fix the problem, it would be appreciated.

I like having the avatars on the left much better, thanks for the fix!

I noticed the online-flag stays on the right. I think it would look better if that moved along with the avatar div.

You'll notice that it's an image that I can't flip (and would look rubbish if flipped) -> BOB does move it down so that it's not blatted by the Quote button though...

Yeah - this isn't easy to do either... the way layouts work etc means that it's very ticky to work out exactly where I should place the online thingy... the left bit is 22% wide - but if I say put the image at 22% it uses the left of the image as the start... so it's 22% - 58 pixels... which browsers don't like!!

Any chance that a function to select cards ahead of time and have the game cash them in automatically could be added? That would give a nice advantage in speed freestyle games.

I believe that someone has already created this...

Oh? Any idea where I can find it? I had scanned through the addons a couple weeks ago and didn't notice anything like that in a title.

Thanks!
