I'm working on Sunday...either I call-off like I'm sick or something or I go to work and get a 45 minute break which I can try to time to start at the exact time the second half starts.

WHAT SHOULD I DO

I'd call in sick, but you could just pray it doesn't go to extra time.

Or maybe time your break to coincide with the start of the game and just not show up again until it's over. Maybe you don't know what took so long, hasn't it only been 45 minutes, and have a tube of fake blood for your ears/nose/eyes/whatever.

See, the only problem with calling in is that I'm REALLY bad at lying. Maybe I should just tell a co-worker to tell my boss that I'm sick.

The last time this happened was the US vs. Ghana game. I asked for my break to be at the start at the second half, but the person that was supposed to give it to me left and I was sent at the beginning of the game (thankfully I watched some of it). Then I was able to get a 15 minute break at the end of the second half (missed the US goal, obviously), but it went into OT and I had to have my friend give me the bad news.

Then again, I really, really wanna quit that piece of shit job. I need to find another job to fall back onto though.

You could become religious suddenly, and insist that working on Sunday is a sin.

What do you do? Would they get angry if you just told them you were taking the day off or something?

I'd call in sick if you have to lie though.

It's a shitty summer job. I'm one of those guys that does the games-stuff (ringtoss and other stupid shit) in an amusement park (The Great Escape for those who are keeping score). I know they won't miss me if I call off, but I'm just afraid that I'll start laughing when I'm telling them I'm sick or something stupid and then I'll get fired (because I'm so lazy and apathetic that I'm on the line anyway). And I wouldn't mind getting fired, I just want to find another job so it doesn't become like last year where there's a 3 week "looking for a job" period.

Well then you should quit caring about a stupid game, and work your ass off to be a productive member of society.

I'm still in college. That's my excuse to be lazy (I wouldn't call it laziness though. It's definitely apathy).

After the match some sections of the crowd were also singing anti-octopus songs.

Well, it was the secret master plan......Paul(the octopus) was born in Weymouth, England. We couldn't beat them at football, but we certianly out-psyched them

España or Nederlands?????? tough no doubt. No matter what, there will be a new champion, a team who has never been champion before.

Man, Spain hasn't ever been in the finals of the World Cup and the Netherlands have only been in 2 finals previously with the last being in 1978. This is pretty unique.

And even if Germany had beaten the Spaniards, I'm pretty sure a unified Germany has also never won.

True, but they've had better results than both other countries.

f*ck all this vuvuzela shit. If England gets to hist the world cup in 2018, we're all going to be giving it large on the Comb Kazoo

you will need:

a comb
some waxed paper, tissue paper, or other thin paper
scissors

All right, I admit that I have never been very musical. About the only musical instrument that I play well is the radio. Still, with this week's experiment, even I can make music, or at least something close enough to cause Lisa to ask me what that noise is.

Cut a piece of waxed paper that is as long as your comb and wide enough so that if you fold it in half, it will cover the comb. Hold the comb with the teeth pointing downwards. Fold the waxed paper in half and place it over the comb. Hold the paper lightly against the comb. Place the paper and comb lightly against your lips and say "Oooooooooo".

Let this be a testament to how much the shitty handball yellow card cost Germany.

I also think that shweinsteiger being stifled vs spain was another large factor. In every other game he has run the midfield, but with xavi, alonso, iniesta et al he wasn't as effective.

Wow! I just noticed the extra 17 votes for the Netherlands in the poll. Last time I looked, they had 11.

Also, great first half. It's like each team is taking turns dominating for 5-10 minutes at a time. Exciting football.

And holy shit is it ever raining there. I hope the weather is a little nicer tomorrow.

I agree Gypsy, there should only be 10 Germans on the pitch,
but Muller's balls are golden.

Quite the game so far.

Contrary to the announcers, I think the fans are entirely correct in booing Suarez the entire game. His blatant breaking of the rules (and the fact the rules are written so that travesties like this could happen) cost a "home" nation the spot in the tournament, so they are justified.
