Excellent idea. Show reasons why the offender is on the list, and maybe have a minimum of votes to get on, like if someone is on 10 ignore lists, then he or she qualifies (hell, i might get on it myself - i piss off a lot of people in the forums).
dont think i like this one. we cant let people be one a list because of the opions of other people... this all sounds a bit like: big mama is watchin you
spritz, it's meant to be an advisory list so that individuals can add other individuals to their personal ignore lists. it's not going to be a universal ignore list that automatically applies to every account on the site. a universal ignore list is better known as a ban, and this is being suggested specifically to curb all the calls for people to be banned from the site or from the forums. read the thread on bigotry in the general discussion forum.

There’s a difference from having strong opinions and a bit of friendly (or not so!) banter in flame wars to being downright offensive and bigoted.
The vast majority of people keep on the right side of this (yourself obviously included), but there are those that think because the internet seems more anonymous they can get away with things that would be unacceptable in any company (bar Klan meetings perhaps!).
of course i understand what the meaning off the thread is. but if you are placed on the list on behalve of a false accusition. you are not ripped of easily and your time here while be spoiled. furthermore i think a lof of people will blindly copy big parts of the lists.
In The Netherlands nowadays we have website. On that website people can place names of person "that would like to have sex with children" Can you inmagine how your neighbour would respond if your name was on it.
I will not say it will work the same with this list, but it is a bit over active place to social kill someone. This is only needed, if someone has done something to ban him for. In that case you could ban him
That is why it would be done by a third party person, like a judge/jury in court. You WOULDN'T be put on by just anybody. It would be investigated just like it is for multis, and then the reason for them being on the list would also be put on there. There would be nobody on the list falsely. We KNOW simtom deadbeats a lot because we can see it in his games. We KNOW Gezeran is a bigot because we read his words. Trust me, we wouldn't have this problem.
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.
Yes, I agree hecter. If the reason for their suggested ignore status is included, each individual has a chance to make their own decision wheter to add them or not to your personal ignore list.
No, you go on the Sticky (hopefully a sticky) and look at all the people. You say "I don't want to play Gezeran because he is a bigot" or "I don't want to play simtom because he ALWAYS deadbeats" and then add them to your ignore list.

I like this idea. Not sure how it would work but I think it would be great. Also, is there a way to not view ignored peoples games? Ive ignored some peoples games but I can still join theirs even though they cant join mine. I really dont want to join/view/be able to view their games at all.
I notice when I put someone on my ignore list they cannot join my game but I can still join theirs. Is there anyone to completely ignore them. So that their games wont come up in my searches and mine wont come up in their searches? Like an Ultimate Ignore list or something?
Also, there are a lot of team games 2 vs 2 I would like to play where I would be against other higher ranked players however, I have been teamed up with very poor players before which ruin the chances of winning. Is there any planned development of an 'Accept' button/box that you select after a game has been filled but not started? So after a teammate joins if I dont want to be teamed up with him I can drop the game instead of getting stuck with the guy. I just bring this up because there are a lot of 2 vs 2 games and 3 vs 3 that go unfilled on the second team, I believe it is for this reason, we dont want to be teamed up with a noob... or superstud1234 for example. I think the button would really only be necessary for the last team that joins, previous joiners can drop anytime they really want.

sorry Hector...I should have been more clear..my bad
what I meant is how does a person get on the "sticky" ignore list to begin with?
who adds them and how do they get there to begin with?...do we just tell the mod about them or what?
No, we should set up a commitee of people to do the list. One person could easily abuse it, they could just put every one on their ignore list on ther public ignore list. Then anybody who meakes them mad would probably end mup on the public ignore list. Which wouldn't be fair at all.
Edit: I just read what wicked said, and that's sort of what I mean. I'm just offering a possible way to fix it.

I understand I would add them to my own list...
The list would be edited by a third party person, such as a mod, and people would ONLY be added AFTER much discussion and a vote.

I have started a suggested ignore list in General forums. We all know it is subjective and critics and proponents agree it can't be used for personal vendetta's. I think it will be a site project.
Not really moderated but overseen by me currently. I may decide to form a committee if the list is respected by all. If people don't treat it seriously then it won't matter at all, but If the site sees it for what it is, an opportunity to better this society that we surround ourselves in, then it has good potential for increasing the enjoyment of the site by all!
I realize that friends lists and like are all set to be released at some later unspecified date. But...
Is there anyway we could set up some sort of ignore list sharing system where if someone you have on your share list ignores someone they are automatically ignored for your list?
RobinJ wrote:Go ahead by all means but, personally, I don't think it fair to put someone on your ignore list without playing them first.
Just like it isn't fair to tell people not to smoke unless they have tried it first? Just like telling your kids to drink and drive because they need to learn from their own mistakes?
I know not to touch a hot pan, not because I have tried it before. You don't have to have a bad experiance to learn. I love learning from other's expeirance. It is a good way to avoid harm.
That is the point of the list. A group of people saying, I don't think I would play him, because he/she has acted this certain way in the past. It is only a suggestion.

Well what’s the point of the feedback system at all then?
Do you play against people with high negative scores, just because it wasn't you they ruined the game for?
Hm, interesting, but I've no idea how easy or hard such a thing would be. For now, until we can get a ruling, you could always publicize your list in a thread, and people can do the same.
