Incredible scenes in the Taekwando quarter final where the British girl Sarah Stevenson was clearly robbed of victory against her Chinese opponent. In an unprecedented step ( and despite there being no formal appeal proceedure ) the British authorities refused to accept the result and launched furious complaints.......amazingly the normally spineless Olympic officials agreed to look into the decision and even more amazingly the Chinese conceeded that the result was a traversty and consequently the result was changed

Yeah, I couldn't believe it. I was screaming obcenities at the tv after that and switched off in disgust. Turned on again an hour later and it was all change. The right decision in the end. After watching a few fights over the last few days something needs to change in regard to the judging.

Local lad(lives in the same town as me) Liam Killeen had a great ride in the mountian biking, could have won a medal if not for an early crash.

and i wouldnt be surprised if bolt trained in the USA just like 80% of all the other athletes.

Please provide the link showing that 80% of all athletes trained in the USA........Settles down in a comfy chair with large supplies of beer and pizza for a very long wait

yup, I'd like to see that too. With over 10,000 athletes competing, can 8,000 really have been trained in the USA??

I think it's 80% of Track stars from the Carribean or at least Jamaica, they've been talking about it almost non-stop during the events here.

It's his achievement, not that of his country. He's not very humble, no, but celebrating that you've won something is not exactly arrogance. He loves to showboat, that's all.

You could call his celebrating as arrogance too. I haven't heard Phelps saying how pride he is of his country because he won a gold medal either. Because that is a retarded thing to say.

What should he have done, thank God? Lets face it God had nothing to do with it and irritates me when athletes 'praise the Lord'. Training, hard work and natural talent are what counts, not God and country.

What difference does it make where he trained. If what you say is true, all that stat shows is how much America rely on caribean people to win medals. No?

It's just a guess of mine, noticing that whenever I watch the finals for track and field/swimming there were always people from a different country that trained in the USA (which is the only reason they're good enough to get there)

oh wow, and have you noticed that half of the american gymnastics team is russian? and that the gymnastics team trainers are hungarian and chinese? and have you noticed that 99% of the us track is african american and immigrated here, or their parents did? and have you noticed that china 9except for one coach), russia, france, great britain, and almost every other country uses their own trainers and native born atheletes?

Seriously, if you look at the best american gymnists, they are all from russia, or hungary (with the exception of sean johnson)

Just look at the Table-tennis finals. Chinese person from this country vs Chinese person from that country may be a cool match but being in any way proud of the fact that your imported person beats the other country's imported person is just silly.

So are you saying that Americans should only be proud if a Native American wins? That's just silly.

I can sort of see the point with someone that was born out of the county, like in Nastia's situation, but they are still American, and Americans have every right to be proud of them for winning for their country.
