Back on topic, I hope you continue to get well. You definitely helped me A LOT when I became a mod and were always there when I had a question. I know you were definitely a huge part of our team, and I can't believe I didn't post this before now (I thought I had

I guess in short what I'm trying to say is thanks for all you did (for me personally and the community), you were a great mod!
Which is exactly why I don't understand why she was fired

Re: Dear Community
OK, 12 of the last 13 posts to this thread were all off topic and basically trading of insults between the posters concerned.
I've split them off into a separate topic. For those interested in continuing that theme please see the new thread in Flame Wars - Dear Community [The flames sequel].
As far as this topic goes let's keep it on topic, relevant (which is much the same thing
) and appropriate to the posting rules which apply here in General Discussion.
Thanks
Cicero

heheh.. if there is one thing which would breathe new life into it it would be locking Wicked's original Announcement thread.

The longer I'm at this site, the more disillusioned I become. It's like a rotten onion. It's very pretty and functional, but as time goes by, the warts get bigger and bigger. This whole deal just takes the cake.
I still have no idea what really happened, but I think I'm out of here too. Just too many negatives spoiling the fun.

Everybody. I'm up in the corner. It's my opinion of this entire ordeal. I'm re-suggesting that we give up arguing about this, and ignore the people who want to continue doing so. As the more prominent posters in the forum, people like yourself and those in the BPB have an obligation to continue on, make new threads, and go about being smartasses as usual. This will blow over with no change (for better or worse). I'm sick of it, so I'd rather see it happen sooner than later.

Top right. As far away from Gypsy as possible.

Re: Dear Community
I just got back from camping by Lake Cle Elum up here in the mountains in Washington State. Went with a friend and 2 dogs. When I got home this Sunday, I removed my clothing to take a shower, and found a tick latched to the center of my back. Damn bloodthirsty parasites. Scared the shit out of me, panic set it. Very disturbing to have a creature attached to me. I had my roommate remove it, and now I am going to monitor my back for the bulls-eye rash you were talking about. Hopefully I'm all clean and all good. I'd rather not have to go through what you went through.
Does anybody have experience removing ticks? How did it go? Did it get you scared?

Re: Dear Community
I had a tick on my ass one time that would not let go. Matches just pissed it off. I could seriously pull the thing out about an inch or two and it would take the skin of my ass with it. Took forever to get the bugger off. Take it from a biologist: vaseline or some other gel-type product. It will suffocate the tick and it will let go on its own to get away.

Re: Dear Community
Take if from a mom (who also happens to be a biologist and a former EMT), get one of those inexpensive tick remover "spoons". It's like a little plastic spoon with a slot in it.
AND, if you remove it within 48 hours, even if it is a deer tick, you should be fine. (oh, yeah, and learn to tell them apart. Most ticks don't carry Lymes).

Once got a tick in my ear as a little kid at Hershey's Park.

Bah. My way is way more MacGyver than yours.

Wow.
Nice 2yr Necro, bdub.
Vasaline works well. You can zap it off with a 9v charge too. They tend to back out after a zap.
Or you can just yank it out, cut out the pincers with the edge of a peach can lid, then cauterize it with a poker.
Depends on your level of intoxication.
