The fourth game is finished. Two quotations for these 95 rounds:

myamoto musashi wrote:All things entail rising and falling timing. You must be able to discern this.

That is to say, you must know when it is time to change the direction of the game, who is rising, who is falling, and when they must rise again or fail.

myamoto musashi wrote:Generally speaking, the way of the warrior is the resolute acceptance of death.

That is to say, you must not be afraid to roll the dice.

I am resigning from the finals in protest. There was some cheap play by the A Bracket in the way chadwick was taken out... if I hadn't been corrected on the matter :? , I would say that there was a tacit alliance to get Killmanic into the finals amongst the other players in the game with the exception of chadwick, who payed the price.

You can give my spot in the finals to one of the runners up in the B Bracket who all played an honorable game to the end...

First of all, I didn't see anything false in there so I will not disqualify anybody from there, as you might of noticed.

Secondly, if you are absolutely sure that you wish to give away your spot in the finals then it will be given to the second place player in your group. So, think about it before stepping out.

Edit. reminder has been sent to the last player who hasn't joined the escalating game.

My protest stands. If four players agreed to all gang up on the other fifth player, that would be simply poor sportsmanship - maybe not technically against the rules - but something a good tournament organizer should be relied on to put a stop to. On the other hand, when four players agree to start a tie break game, and the fifth says nothing, followed by the weakest member of the group suiciding on the fifth, and still they gang up on the fifth player and ignore the weakest player, that is collusion. I read the log and I did not see a clear cease fire announced anywhere among the four... the four simply said publicly they would go with the tie break early if everyone agreed, and, in fact, one turn after the cutoff you set, they did, without any anouncement that a cease fire had ended, kill off the weakest player (after killing off the other guy first).

You are being very narrow in your view of this amazony, and it reflects badly on the players involved, but also on the tournament. And with that I wish Lufsen good luck in the finals...

Still not sure what you are protesting against but the only person losing in this situation is you IMO. I'm sure Lufsen will enjoy the place in the finals. Thanks for playing, gdeangel.

Escalating game has began, as soon as we have a winner from that game, finals will begin.

Well from what I gather from the game AND chat log, lord voldemort wanted to eliminate both of them, only eliminate killmanic in his turn, and assuming that either White Moose or bones would then eliminate him. Unfortunately for some reason, White Moose and bones did not do so. There's a slim chance that they have a secret alliance, looking at what they're doing, but there's not enough concrete evidence to know for sure. I'm not trying to side amazzony here, I even have bad experience with White Moose... but I'm trying to be objective. Anyway between lord voldemort, Chadwick and killmanic, I don't think there's anything going on. All 3 were surprised and outraged by what happened.

And you aren't being fair in calling amazzony narrow-minded, as I could also say you're equally narrow-minded in thinking that there is an alliance going on here, but of course that's not the way we do things around here.

In fact I think amazzony is doing a great job running this tournament. The games took a heck of a time to move, and amazzony was able to give us frequent updates, and came up with a brilliant way to overcome the stalemates. Kudos to amazzony for that (:

Get over yourselves, guys (mostly gd). There is/was nothing going on in that game and no conspiracy.

Had I not been on vacation that week, I would have gladly eliminated Killmanic from the game. But since I wasn't, my sitter had explicit instructions to build in that game in order to get me in the finals. Heaven forbid my main intention is to still win that game, regardless of the fact that it doesn't matter to the tournament.

LoVo had the best chance to eliminate Killmanic anyways. He had the most armies on the board (50% more than I had) but he assumed two players with far less armies would do the dirty work for him (something LovO is great at doing - he'd much rather sit back and let other people do his work). And you know what happens when you assume.

Killmanic made the questionable move and he was the ONLY one threatening other players with suiciding into them. Don't drag Moose and I down with this crap too.

Perhaps I should clarify something....

It seems these days that a lot of people are expecting tournament organizers to deal with an increasing number of "situations" in the tournaments on CC. However, as long as they make the games, record the results, and answer any simple questions a player may have, they are under no obligation to do anything further.

Yes, sometimes there are situations in tournaments that a player may not like, it might be what they think is unsportsmanlike, or they make think there is a secret alliance, etc. However, if the tournament organizer makes an attempt to look into the situation and decides that there is nothing that needs to be done further, that is the end of the story.

gdeangel, I understand you don't like what happened, and of course you have the right to resign from the tournament, but no rules were broken, and therefore, the tournament organizer is not obligated to go any further than they already have.

Loverbots... REJOICE!

this was me, I sat that week for Bones and for the most part didn't even look to hard at what else was happening in the games. My instructions were clear that I was to deploy and NOT attack anyone and so that's what I did. I didn't even look to see if I could take anyone out.

You'll notice in chat that I announced that I was going to be sitting for Bones all that week.

and a side note to speak tword the character of those players... bones2484, chadwick, killmanic, LoVo, and Moose... all of them ive had in many tournaments and absolutely none of them would i ever even begin to think would do something like that... so based on prior experience, I would give them all the benefit of the doubt by far (a game filled with nothing but regulars in my tournys who always do good and usually in a respectful manor, interesting lol)

  • We have our 5 finalists:
    • lalaland
    • tstoweschnell
    • Natewolfman
    • Lufsen75 (gdeangel gave away his final spot)
    • killmanic (won a tiebreaker game)
  • I've sent them a message and they have 3 days to send me their home settings. If they don't do it then I will bring next best player from their group. This process will continue until we have settings for 5 finalists.
  • For some people it has been quite a wait but I'm hoping that finals can start soon!

I have 3 sets of settings, probably will bring in second place players from the remaining groups because it seems that both players who haven't answered me yet have left the site. I'll give them another 24 hours then will message second place players.

lalaland hasn't given me her settings so vampir2124 is going to replace her. tstoweschnell also didn't message me back so he has been replaced by Nerva. Both of them were second after the winners of step 3 games. Hopefully they will appreciate their second chance and let me know their settings soon so we could start with final games :)
