I can run this tournament with either 48/54 teams.
If I won't have enough players for 54 teams by tomorrow, I will start the tournament with 48 teams. It means that not every unpaired player will be able to make it to main group of players, but stay at the substitution list.

it's a bit annoying - we have played 50 odd games together recently and have a very healthy record - but I have a very good record with Velvecarrots too...

Why do teams 1 & 6 only have 1 game each with teams 2,3,4,5 getting 2 each?

Every set 2 teams will have 1 game instead 2. At the end of the day each team will play same number of game: 10 games, twice against each opponent.
