I tried to read and read again that ladder & chute system but still not get it I guess, mainly because I saw I went back 2 maps so understanding this will explain to myself why....

There has been a question about how the chutes and ladders has been working. You may or may not remember that I said I wanted to keep things where a bunch of people stayed in the running with a chance.

So far I think the chutes and ladders is working pretty well. The leader is only 4 ahead of 2nd (instead of 10+), 7 people within 6 of the lead (1 dice roll), and 18 people within 12(2 rolls). I know it sucks if you get hit. But my goal of keeping things even. To have a bunch of people with a shot going into the last two sections, seems to be working. We would all like to be Fakyrus who has a net benefit of 13 from the ladders. And we are all glad not to be grt who has had a net -7. Sorry. Most people, if you glance down the spreadsheet column for the net benefit of c & l have come out positive.

Roll 10 coming out soon.

Roll 13 is out. Everyone should have six new games.

6 players have passed the point where chutes and ladders will affect them.

My purpose with the chutes and ladders was to avoid a runaway. That and not letting people in the upper 50% choose their own map seems to have worked. 1st is only two ahead of 2nd, and 5 ahead of four more players.
10 people within ten of the leader and having a reasonable shot at overtaking. So we will have more of a race going into the finish.

Well as regards the chutes looks like grt and I would be top two were it not for chutes and ladders.

I'm happy with that though like you say I'd love the extra points but that is what makes this tournament special....

As I was scoring roll 13, I discovered that seven games were never sent out. They have been now.

Please in the future if you see a discrepancy please let me know.

Thanks

Congratulations to muti, who with his third six win has qualified for the Diablo GA medal. As of now he is the only one in the race for that medal, no one else having six wins, three times.

Everyone should have six games. Let me know about problems asap.

Map change. 2010 World Cup has become 2014 World Cup, due to the taking away of the 2010 map.

I sort of agree but I just win 5 out of 6 games and move forward 1. It is getting kind of ridiculous.

There are a few minus scores but -11 - it's almost twice the next worst score. Everyone around me has positives. I was depressed about this tournament now I'm  I don't think I can bring myself to look at the scoreboard again. I'll just hope for the Diablo GA medal.

I wanted to modify the rules as I saw the chutes were going to get you again. The only bright ray of sunshine I can see, is that it does demonstrate the randomness. Truly random, someone benefits greatly and someone gets screwed. We could all wish to be JELO who gained 12, or Dave S who gained 10.

Thank you for playing my friend and for being a good sport about it.

As for your TO, I ended up with a plus 4.

On the up side I am almost in the last 2 sections so won't have to worry about going backwards any more. Where does it begin - on the free choice? If so just need a 5 or 6 this roll to be safe - but no doubt I'll find that if I got a 4 I would hit a ladder (so that won't happen lol).

I do like the tournament - the concept is great - just having another moan that's all :D

Yes on the free choice tile is where the chutes and ladders go away. The exception being if you get thrown several squares into the new section, you get to keep those.

Roll 14 is now complete and scored including the application of chutes and ladders to those of us still in that area.

PM's for those who have choice (Free choice tiles, and lower 50% of ranking) are going out.

Roll 15 will probably start this weekend.

We have finished Roll 16.

The scoreboard is up to date with chutes and ladders applied. A little more than half of us have moved beyond the point at which it applies. TX AG 90, has moved out to an eight point lead. We will have to see ifsomeone can run him down.

All those on tiles by themselves in the upper half have had random.org applied and the thread shows which tile you will be playing. Those in the lower half will receive pms, unless someone below you chooses your tile.

Congrats to everyone for playing this far.
