People who don't like this idea and post here complaining about it are forgetting that they don't have to adhere by it. Unless they are defending their reputations, then there is really no point in expressing your displeasure because the mods would have locked this if they didn't condone it, and your opinions don't really have any effect on what GC or his supporters are going to do. I applaud GC for continuing on, despite the mixed response.
It takes 3 points to make a line. One negative is an anomaly, Two may be retaliatory, but if you start accumulating a lot, fewer and fewer people will be willing to give you a chance. Including me. Great work GC.

Hehe… well, well… If I have to spell it out one more time: This list and the people taking part of it is a bunch of very annoying people. The self-righteousness is beyond words. And I find it to be quite appalling. The whole "J'accuse!" thing is ridiculous.
And yes. I will gladly ignore this thread when people stop harassing other players under the clout of public backing like this. In short: Mind your own business, use your ignore list and stop being so pretentious.
No, what's really annoying is when people try to do something good and other people complain for no good reason because I fail to see how this could negativly affect us.

I beg to differ. This "list" and the people behind it are ridiculous. And I believe that something good may come out of pointing out that there's a big, pink elephant in the room.
As far as negative effects is concerned, those effects hit the people being singled out and
persecuted by these nonsense do-gooders with no sense of basic politeness.
EDIT: Spelling error as pointed out.

So, pointing out multis or secret alliances in the cheat forums is persecuting those people? Please develop your argument on why this list is that much different.
Simtom has ''persectued'' hundreds of games, yet you say he shouldn't be here?

Yes, you do fail to see. If you don't see why a self-appointed self-righteous oligarchy creates a mechanism whereby accusations can be made by anyone and judged by only a few, then you definitely aren't seeing the point being made by dissent to such a committee.
The stated purpose of this committee is to help the casual gamer make snap decisions on who should be on their ignore list. Sure, it doesn't have any authority to make that happen. No one is arguing that you do have that authority - so stop defending on that basis.
The point is that the exact same rationale that the casual gamer is very likely to "benefit" from the fruits of this committee - they are likely to assume that this committee has some sort broad support by the die-hard gamers in the community.
With the exception of tahitiwini, the fact that all dissent to this committee has evoked bellicose and overly emotional response proves my point of the unworthiness of both this committee and the members of it to conduct such an ill-conceived effort.

In the Cheat and Abuse Forum rule violations are dealt with. And, the mods are looking into it, making it clear whether or not a rule violation has occured. After that, players are either banned or cleared. This works fine.
If you wish to go after someone, you can go to the Flame Forum and let some steam out. Anyone reading through the posts there knows what it's all about.
Here, in the General Forum I find it childish when people get on a very high horse trying to make it look like they are speaking for the wider Community with some kind of authoritative voice. It's silly because so far I've only seen 10-15 morons writing about it. And yes, this is a form of persecution (however, bullying is probably a better word for it) since this group of people are writing pretty nasty stuff to begin with, then sending out e-mails demanding explanations and ending it all with some kind of "Committee" decision in effect saying that these players are to be shunned.
I find it absurd. It's school yard bullying by people so nerdy that they have to set up "Committees" and shit. Jebus... grow up.

I also don't see how such a "committee" provides any significant value for most anyone beyond what is already generously provided by the existing system.
When I was new it took very little effort to comb the forums and examine the feedback system to know who were the black holes to avoid.
So for me this committee is
at best about helping those who are simply too lazy to help themselves, and it is
at worst a witch-hunt. The entire range of that spectrum of possibility disgusts me.

All of the people on the ignore list deserves to be on it. It maybe a small number of people judging but it they will be smart about making who stays on the list.

Not all newbs check the forums before entering a game for the first time because most will want to start playing right away, this is to make sure they don't play with the wrong kinds of people and hate the game just because some person wanted to do something stupid or use unfair or annoying tactics.

You losers take this game way too seriously. ITS A FREAKING GAME!!!
Outlawing people from your games because they use swears, or because they borg, or whatever else the case is nonsense. Come on! So be it...we all know it sucks but we all deal with it. When you start completely black-flagging people because of these stupid reasons you end up creating a place where people don't want to come to. Losen up and get a life. ITS NOT THAT SERIOUS!!
Besides there is a place where this ridiculousness doesn't happen...it's called LANDGRAB. For all of you who don't want to deal with these nerds sitting at their computers all day contemplating ways to whine about about players... come on over. The water is nice.

Soooo... let me see if i understand this... if they don't visit the forums
THEN they haven't seen your
black list SO you haven't "made sure they don't play with the wrong kinds of people"
WHICH means they will "hate the game because
because because".

First of all, there's only one name on the list so far and his reason is actually valid for being on the list. Secondly, the people that don't want to come are the people who are on the list and I rather not play with anyone on this list.

I'm not saying all people quit when they come across their first annoying player, it's just some probably do and even if they don't, they will have an unenjoyable experince playing this game. Everyone always complains about how someone does something unfair and either someone gives a "solution" of not playing a gametype completely, agreeing with the player, or disagreeing saying it's a stratagy. Most fall in the first two. It's funny how people can complain about something but never do anything about it and when someone does, he gets shot down, and I have yet to see anyone giving a good reason why.

I've grown to like the list for the following reasons:
1) There is only 1 person on the list - simtom
2) Since being put on the list simtom has started to play games
Nothing to complain about - yet.

As I have said in the other thread on this topic:
Who died and made you lot boss?
There already exists a fairly simple two step process in which you have two options after you have played some-one:
1 - you enjoy the experience - great, play 'em again, or
2 - you don't like something about their behaviour - so don't play 'em again and if its really offensive to
your own standards of behaviour put 'em on
your ignore list. If you really want the world to know about their actions then use feedback or the flame forum is that way >>>>

This list is going to die anyway. Probably partly do to the negative response from a large number of members, so you all need not worry about it anymore.

As I said before, this is just a suggustion, we're not making anyone do anything so that doesn't make anyone the boss.

umm... don't attribute simtom's placement on "the list" as reason for his changing behavior. Him starting to play again occurred when he hit 1 and realized he couldn't go any lower.

yes i just played 2 games in a row with him...He is a good player and we played one of the games RT and everything went well.
