Don't forget those that run deep in the playoffs every year! Look like the Dukes will fly in under the radar yet again!

in as reserves. Also, suggestion along the lines of your rule change: Coaches w/ .500 win percentage have first option on teams next year (i.e. they can get picked up by a school they like better from among the open teams). So, if College A's Coach win percentage is .250, and College B's Coach goes .750, then A's Coach gets fired, but instead of leaving it open to the field, College B's coach gets first dibs on that job. At end of season, coaches would be ranked according to win percentage and down the list, they would be given the option to switch schools from among the available teams.

If you reach .500 or better by season's end, you will get the notice allowing you to return with your team for next season or jump to another open school.
If you finish under .500 you will not get this notice, although I will probably send out an pm alerting players that the tourney is back...but this will go out 48 hours after the tourney sign-ups go public. So if you finish with a losing record, there is a chance you won't be returning with the same school the following year. You are free to rejoin the tournament, but would have to pick whatever schools are open in public signup.

May I suggest that teams that win their conference tournament and make the NCAA tournament are also safe. Since most schools consider making the NCAA tournament a success.

basically, it's a rule designed to open teams up a little more often, but also to motivate coaches to keep trying for wins even if they're sitting at 9-14 with two weeks left in the season.

Are you looking at win % each season or overall? I'd hate to see VOL have a terrible win % & get fired a year after winning the whole thing! C'mon Flex, you have time to do all the research don't you?! ...Then again, who would WILLINGLY coach Butler other than VOL???!!
I can feel the A-10 Rivalry heating up. For all New comers- in the CC World, the A-10 is THE CONFERENCE! All the others look like the Big East in football in comparison!

I'm working on compiling career coaching records, so assuming I get that done those will be taken into account.
Basically, if you finish under .500 it puts you on the hot seat...then I'll look at your career coaching record in this tourney...if you're under .500 there then you're "fired", if you're above .500 you'll still be able to keep your school. That solves the "one bad season" problem.
Of course, for first-year coaches the expectations are high...win now or work at the grocery store. Do I smell recruiting scandals already?

Sounds like a good system. It doesn't allow for bad coaches to continuously coach esteemed programs while allowing for full participation. I for one am not worried about the ins and outs. I was just curious.

The schedule for the first set of games is posted and I've sent out all the tournament-style Game 1s and about half of the regular batch. I'll send the remainder of the Game 1s in the morning.
Games will be sent Mondays and Wednesday throughout the season.
If a map drops out (after 2 weeks) it will be considered a forfeit. If you have three maps drop out, you will be subject to being taken out of the tournament at my discretion, so do you best to join in a timely manner and keep pace. Of course, if you're going to be out of town or something, just drop me a pm, so I can plan for that.
thanks and have fun everyone. Feel free to post "game updates" in the thread

Columbia goes down in its season opener as the refs and the road trip were too much for the Lions to overcome..

Game 2s have been sent...if you didn't receive a Game 2 notice it's because you are taking part in an early-season tourney and I have to wait for all the first round (Game 1) matches to finish before I can make the next games. For those in-season tourneys, I'll just pm as games become available. For the other regular-season matchups, I hope to stay on a Monday/Wednesday schedule for the year (Christmas week will only see one game go out).
* ALSO, I'll be sending out reminders where necessary over the next 48 hours, but anyone who has failed to join a single map by the end of the weekend will be replaced or have their school eliminated.

Hi
I have seen you have done the scores from rd 5 but what do you get if you win in rd 4?? this must be worth alot more than winning in rd 5?
Thanks

No, sorry, I just cap it at the bottom and at the top...so 5 or fewer is the same, as is the top of the ladder 15+ rounds.

scores updated for the Game 1 finals...I'll put standings up once we're a week or so into the season and have more games gone final. In the meantime, I'm working on finalizing schedules for the full season.

I find it ironic that Louisville blew me out 92-52 the first game of the season last year and then this year they get blown out 93-55 to Ohio in their first game.
And I was rooting for rookie coach [player]Gigi1[/player] and his preseason 13th ranked Duke Blue Devils. But now that he was blown out 91-56 to last year's Elite Eight Finalist, the 18th ranked Tennessee Volunteers in his opening game, I just have to laugh and say welcome to The Association rook.

Whew, being a rook sure does carry a heavy price. We got our butts kicked by Tennessee. Theres always next year.
