It was quite a fierce showdown, the most exciting thus far. Both of you definitely have what it takes to compete in that final group, but it's all about a little extra more strategy or a little better drop or dice to gain the edge.
I genuinely appreciate the appreciation. I do plan on hosting the third, annual PIG Roast this fall again, signups probably starting again in October.
April 8 UpdateLook behind you, it's a giant Easter egg!

April 19 UpdateMoonchild has taken a one-letter lead in Group D, but we can't discount his remaining competitor, william tennant.
Should be a thrilling finish for the last group of the Sizzling Sixteen!

Moonchild has squeezed through past a very tough opponent [player]william tennant[/player] following eight strenuous rotations, qualifying for that fourth spot in the Fiery Four!
Thus, our distinguished cadre of piggies in the final group are
- [player]chutley[/player], our initial Roaster for the group since he advanced in the fewest number of rotations (5). chutley boasts the highest winning percentage of all the competitors, an impressive 56% over nearly 1800 games.
- [player]Domicas[/player] possesses the advantage of Pig Roast experience. In last year's competition, Domicas fought to the bitter end, just missing out on the tournament victory.
- Next is [player]Chewie1[/player], who, despite having the lowest rank (the other players are, generally, majors), has by far played more games and has more general CC experience. He's completed nearly 7500 games, while the other competitors have only completed around 4000 games.
- And our final piggie in the group is [player]Moonchild[/player], who has both the most tournament victories and number of medals, posting 19 tournament wins and 62 medals.
So, which player has the most dominant advantage in claiming victory?
We'll find out soon enough; the Fiery Four begins now!

How about that for timing, the initial Roaster responds only 14 minutes with his map and settings. Play indeed has begun!

May 2 UpdateThere's already been some fierce resistance against chutley on the King's Court map. As Roaster, chutley was only able to defeat Moonchild, meaning only Moonchild gets a letter (P). Now we see Chewie1 grab the Roasting stick with an opportunity to cause some damage...

May 7 UpdateChewie1 ferociously roasts the piggies, giving each of them a letter. He retains possession of the valuable roasting stick. Brace yourselves, Round 3 begins as Chewie1 has another go at the grill.
Which piggie will be brave and evade the fiery grill now!?
I'm having too much fun with this piggie concept

*The tournament organizer has the final say on any issues connected to the tournament and tournament play.
I've decided to add the following to the Rules in case any new settings pop up on the site,
Any settings that are added to Conquer Club after the tournament begins (November 5, 2011) are ignored for purposes of tournament play, and may not be included in any games in the tournament.
Moonchild now in command!

May 13 Update[player]Moonchild[/player] now takes command in the Fiery Four after brave and heroic resistance; in only 6 rounds he stomped over [player]Chewie1[/player]'s territories to claim victory. Domicas as well claimed victory but just some rounds too slow for becoming Roaster. Chewie1 was able to evade gaining a letter since he beat at least 1 player, [player]chutley[/player].
Chewie1 remains in the lead, but
will Moonchild's shrewd map selection and counter-offensive keep him alive in the group? And can [player]chutley[/player] pick up a key victory to remain in the competition!
Brace yourselves: Rotation 4!

Clutch Performance by chutley

May 19 Update[player]Moonchild[/player]
nearly escaped with a sweep against all 3 piggies but for [player]chutley[/player]'s win on Canada.
chutley is now the Roaster and chooses the map for Rotation 5!
Meanwhile, things are getting quite interesting as
3 players--all except [player]Chewie1[/player]--have 2 letters, PI, putting them just 1 letter away from being totally roasted and eliminated from the tourney.
Rotation 5 is all the more valuable now for all players, as one more single loss spells PIG and elimination, while no wins for the Roaster (chutley) will also mean he's eliminated!
Onward we go: Rotation 5!

Chewie1 emerges as Roaster as chutley takes out 2

May 27 UpdateIn Round 5, [player]chutley[/player]
exterminates half the competition in one go. Both [player]Domicas[/player] and [player]Moonchild[/player] have accumulated their third letter, the
dreaded G, and been eliminated!
That leaves
just [player]chutley[/player] and [player]Chewie1[/player]. It will be quite interesting to C who takes command now in this
1v1 showdown. Chewie1 has the
slight one-letter lead but every game now has the potential to shift the advantage from one player to the other.
But for now, Round 6 here we go; [player]chutley[/player] fell to [player]Chewie1[/player], so Chewie1 has the ad now with the map choice.
Who wins the tournament could come down to this round, this single game...

[player]Chewie1[/player] wins the Pig Roast!Congratulations to [player]Chewie1[/player], who has surpassed all odds in standing mighty by the grill, with the roasting stick in hand, while all other 47 piggies lay dead, scarred and roasted in full from skin to the most inner bones.Chewie1 now has a huge dinner to consume all to himself. How his stomach will react to this victory is to be determined...
It was not an easy group of four to beat; round of applause to [player]chutley[/player], who was the last piggie to die in the last game (2nd place) and [player]Domicas[/player], who made it to the Final 4 in two consecutive Pig Roasts (neither of these easy feats)
Thank you everyone for taking part in this tournament. I have enjoyed the feedback I've received through this tournament and I've noticed some people are enjoying the format, so it's likely I'll be motivated enough come October to put up the THIRD ANNUAL PIG ROAST!! Woot
Even more pigs will be roasted

Feel free to check out any of my future tournaments. All of you were great sports, and I commend that.
Signing off,
James
