Doesn't Lack get to be in the first year there? I believe he acted as a mod initially?

Dancing mustard and the rest of the "gang of 4" have to make the trouble maker list, as do wickedm though off-hand, I cannot remember the years.. and most recently Insomniared, of course.

Gotta get your years right though, wicked was one of the biggest troublemakers in 2008, InsomniaRed was a massive troll in 2011.

Thanks for the nominees for 2007 nags, I'll put em up.

And remember people, if you don't nominate them during the nomination period, they wont win, you must nominate them first, if no one nominates them, they will not make the list!

qwert didn't make any maps in 2007.

i think the best way to set up a poll for the map makers category is to talk to andy to give you a list of map makers and maps based on the release date.

then you could make a poll like this:

best map maker 2007:
Map maker 1 (map 1 map 2 map 3)
Map maker 2 (map 1)
etc

this way people will also know what maps were done by those map makers and vote accordingly.

Ah.. I'll have to look more into future years, seems like lots of members have been put on the list that were not actually from 2006, but were nominated, although some were justified, but as qwert posted above, the release dates of all his maps, none from 2006... thanks for that post qwert, that will just eliminate you from winning the 2006 poll although it is already leaning towards Jota for the win :)

DiM. That is a very good idea, takes a lot of work and looking into tho, and actually come to think about it, I wanted people to post who they thought would be the best nominees for each category and why as well to persuade others to vote for their nominees... just a few posts ago on another topic some members were posting "posts" that their nominees made during 2006 for the "most well known poster" to justify their nominees or the person they voted for.

If people want to post maps that certain nominees made for those certain years to boost them some votes I have no problem with that, and it would be right there in the thread for all to see... I will probably do that myself when it gets to the years that I have been around 2009-present... Thanks for the idea, very good

many people have no idea who made certain maps.
just recently i discovered somebody that liked one of my maps, played against me many times on that map and yet had no idea i actually made that map.
and it's not the first time this happened.

that's why i said you should put all the map makers of a certain year as well as their maps. andy has such a list. i know he posted it at some point but i can't find it.

:o You know someone that likes your maps? I can't believe this.

I think everyone on CC is addicted to at least 3 of your maps

I will post map makers and maps they made for that year for following years. Thanks for the good idea, and thanks for that link

Gosh, reading some of this stuff posted about the old timers is great; that sure was a fun CC. One of my favorite players was Jork. I believe he was a conqueror at one point but maintained an upper 80% win rate for strictly playing team games; at that time, there was no invite option and he played with whoever joined his team; cooks, privates, didn't matter. Hell of a nice guy. Maybe Robin can provide further info about him. Not sure if he was in a clan or not.

I remember jork, hell of a nice guy, and well respected...
i always smiled when i saw his avatar, in fact if i remember right, his was voted the best avatar back in the day..

but i never played him... as you said, he played strictly team games,
and i played mostly 6p std escalators...
he got to #1, the highest i got was #4

But i need to add something about PRIVATE games vs PUBLIC games...
While i do realize that there were many who played private games to boost/protect their score,
i did it to raise the level of competition...
Here's my 6p std esc stats to prove what i am saying:
playing public games i have won 50% (49% overall)
private games i have won only 19% (20% overall)
Again, these are 6p std escalators.

actually that's also a form of boosting/protecting your score.

yes playing private games only with people of the same rank or better provides a better competition but also rewards wins with more points and penalizes losses with less points.

also by playing private games only with proven players you're protected from idiots that don't know the concept of escalating and trash half your troops just to get a +2 bonus.

PS: score on CC is totally irrelevant when it comes to assessing a player's overall skill. score on CC merely shows the ability to farm a certain map or a certain setting. that's all.

I'm not one to blow my own horn.......... oh wait, yes I am. I singlehandy changed CC.com forever back in 2006. I lead a movement against this site, that lead to a whole clan, my clan the stachewackers, getting banned. I forced Twill to have a breakdown and quit modding, changed rules of the forum, and still win clan matches in the process. I recruited long time CC members to join my revolution (wicked, rev_kyle). 2006 was the year of the STACHE here at conquerclub. Too bad most who were around back then are gone. Sadly one of the best threads of 2006, or ever even, is gone, which was the Stache recruiting thread.

2006 poster of the year = Me
2006 troublemarker of the year = Me
2006 clan of the year = Stachewackers

ViVaLaStache!!!!!

A 50% win rate on open games is actually quite awesome on those settings and u can certainly maintain 3000 points or so with that. The PoD considers himself to be a specialist at open speed games on those settings but can only report a 33% win rate, against an average rank probably of sergeant.

EDIT: sorry when i say open games i mean public games.

sad day... here i thought someone finally nominated someone for 2007, all we got is someone from 2006 nominating himself after 2006 nominations have been given and finished plus a bunch of people talking about strategy on CC, the never ending topic...
