also, I'm going with Ricky Henderson as the one in the 500-500 club, and I'll guess he's the only one.

I'll go with bonds, bonds, mays, finley, sanders, and dawson, just for giggles.

Unless I'm mistaken, bonds the younger is the sole member of the 500/500 club.

And I think only bonds the younger and mays are 400/400.

Okey-dokey, then.

Staying with baseball, because why not:

Which Pittsburgh Pirate was charged with disorderly conduct after whacking one of the sausage racers with a bat at Miller Park in 2003?

Extra credit: which sausage did he hit?

Extra extra credit: How many times has Gary Matthews Jr. been designated for assignment? (bitter Angels fan here)

It was actually the Italian sausage...

and GM Jr. has been DFA'ed twice. And yet we're paying him eleven mil a year for the next five years... sheesh.

Anyway, it's your go.

Switching over to Basketball...

Who has the record for most Rebounds in a single game, and what is the record?

since I already know I'm right ('cause I'm that awesome) - we'll go for a general question.

There are 7 or 8 teams in the 4 major sports (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL) that do NOT end in an "s" - give me 6 of them.

i don't know any futból trivia, because we call it soccer. and we don't much like it.

Cricket is freaking weird, and rugby looks kind of homoerotic. sorry Limeys, maybe if you can get one of these right you can hijack the thread.

your thread sir-

mmmmkay.

Here's one for you, max, along with your international brethren:

Name the last five soccer/futbol World Cup winners, along with who that team defeated in the final game, and the host country for each.

see, this is what happens when you ask international sports questions: the thread dies and nearly falls off the first page, dooming it to a prugatorial existence in the CC archives until 8 months from now someone performs a but of necromancy and resurrects it, only to be roundly abused for his efforts....

So I'll scale it back, and say that all you have to give me is the last three World Cup champions. That should be simple enough.

(and my comment above wasn't supposed to be interpreted that only max or people overseas could answer... it was more a 'give em what they want' kind of thing :) )

Italy, Brazil and France...they won teh cup in Germany, Japan and France respectively...

by Incandenza
Correct!

The full breakdown, in case anyone cares:
2006 Italy beat France in Germany
2002 Brazil beat Germany in Japan/South Korea
1998 France beat Brazil in France
1994 Brazil beat Italy in the US
1990 West Germany beat Argentina in Italy

you're up, perchorin. And let's close the curtain of charity on any more international sports questions...

yeah sorry got sidetracked for a bit...I'm gonna throw a curveball here, it's an international event but I'm pretty sure our English friends will be in the dark about it. Name the 16 countries that took part in the inaugural World Baseball Classic last year.

Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, US, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Australia, the Netherlands, South Africa, Italy, Canada, Panama

I think that's all of them.
