I'm sick of everyone telling me good luck on the chat. You don't wish me good luck... you want to win you fool. There should be a moratorium to eliminate everyone who writes that lame garbage.

I've started to forget to even say hello in games, let alone good luck or have fun.

Could always ask why bother saying gl if folks are too lazy to type it out.

Just sayin... complaints about folks being "too lazy" can go on and on.

Me, I type it if I feel like it, and don't if I don't.

I only wish luck to opponents that I have played with many times, and have conversed with. That is really the only time I wish anyone luck, and I would hope that deep down inside, they are wanting me to have it back.

Seriously, sometimes I greet, sometimes I do not. It's not because I am trying to be rude, I just have more important things to type in game chat most of the time. If I don't, then I don't even really look at the chat.

Anyone who wishes good luck is a tool. Especially if it is cause you are trying to be polite to people you don't even know. HELLO? LOSER? I know you don't give a rip about me so don't pretend like you need to be polite. I'm sure if I got hit by a car died thus deadbeated in game you were in and caused you lose, your manners would dissapate very soon there after. gl people are LOSERS

1.This is bound to offend many.
2.Just because I "type" good luck doesn't actually mean I "wish" good luck. As some others have already stated, you might not necessarily mean it or it's just a standard way for you to greet opponents.

Saying "good luck" at the beginning is a friendly way to start the match (and the Jedi mind tricks.) Remember, never let your opponents know what you're really thinking. =)

It's like the shaking hands at the end of a chess match, or the "good game" after your little league team just got spanked. It's not essential to say, but it's part of good sportsmanship.

What are you, a teenage girl?

A real man would say something like this:

"Anyone who says gl in a game is a mouth-breathing fuckwit who should donate their balls for animal feed. If I see anyone in real life saying silly things like 'good luck' I instantly punch them in the face."

I mean, if you're going to post controversial opinions that challenge our views of social norms for the shock value (and don't get me wrong, it's always a good tactic to do that when you enter a new community where no one knows you, you'll be making a great first impression: people will know this guy is for business and not to be trifled with!) then you might as well go all the way and show that you have some balls. But when you spout phrases like "hel-LO? LOSER?" I can just imagine you as a teenage girl, talking in the telephone with your best friend, twirling the telephone wire around your little finger, berating that nerdy guy on your class who tripped in the lunchroom and spilled his milk carton all over the floor... I mean, HELLO, WHAT A LOSER! I mean, whatever, it's not like I care.

So next time, put some effort to it! As a matter of fact... the next time AoN shows up on the forums, you should holler at him and ask him to take you on as an apprentice. He'll show you the ways and mannerisms of a REAL MANLY MAN!

Or I might display some non-caveman intelligence and refrain from cursing up a storm. Really? I display my manhood by threatening people? WOW. Real mature. I can just picture you in jean pants-turned-shorts with a sleeveless tapout T-shirt and a bad looking goatee, threatening your girlfriend in the parking lot @ Chiles. YOU ARE A TOOL!!!! People like you need a kick in the middle.

gl people are fakes. If you want to be polite or conversational start a real conversation like a normal person. Besides to wish another good luck is contrary to the reason everyone plays CC. Just think about it for five seconds and you will realize you are making a vain, nonsensical, and ignorant statement. I'm sorry for the tone but the fake and lame gl people need a good RICK FLAIR SLAP WOOOOOO.

Come on now, we all know that's not going to happen. My old pa, right before he died in that lawnmower accident, always used to say "son, you ain't smart, good looking or wealthy, so don't start pretendin' to be fancier than you really are". Don't reach for the stars or you'll get pointy star-bits on your fingers, or something.

Over the course of sports, probably throughout the ages, 'good luck' or the equivalent entered into the common social custom with the like of 'What's up' and 'How are you,' like whenever you meet someone.

You often don't really care what they are up to, or how they are, unless you really are friends with them. You often don't usually expect a meaningful or even coherent response.

I think 'Good luck' for a number of competitors in any sort of competition, probably falls into this rote custom.
