Incandenza wrote:That's not a bad schedule, but my concern is that everything could get held up by a long-running no cards game (like "Fucking Benelux", and that was only dubs). Just throwing this out there, but all four clans might want to consider rejiggering their home slates so that round 2 has more quads and trips and no cards, and round 3 has more dubs and 1v1s and escalating. Get the potentially-long games started sooner rather than later.

This is reasonable. Though we've just finished the agonizing over the first round selections, I guess we need to jump right into the subsequent round deliberations. :)

After taking another look at it, that last batch of games for the finals is a touch worrisome 'cause of Thanksgiving. Obviously a substantial percentage of people involved aren't American, but that holiday is pretty hellish for games if you are. If games are sent Nov 14, takes 5 days or so to fill, Thanksgiving falls smack in the middle. Perhaps if the schedule were rejiggered, maybe the finals start a week later, and the final batch is sent the weekend after Thanksgiving, there's plenty of time between then and Xmas to squeeze in 20 games (especially if, again, the final batch is mostly 1v1, dubs, and escalating).

Yes, congrats on winning - Route 66 singles -- where the drop and dice attacking neutrals sway 90% of the games. Still not sure why we picked that one

I judge this *close to* but not *actually* a legitimate inaugural challenge thread dice bitch comment. :)

(Let's not compete with the other cup challenge thread for turn/drop/dice whining. :P)

Also - congrats chip!!

Chariot of Fire wrote:Good point Incan - it would make sense to correlate both semis so we're playing to the same agenda. I reckon three weeks is too long now that we're playing in three phases. We wouldn't be on target for an end-2010 finish which I believe was Chuck's objective.

How would this be:

Semi Batch 1 - 22nd Aug
Semi Batch 2 - 5th Sept
Semi Batch 3 - 19th Sept
Final Batch 1 - 17th Oct
Final Batch 2 - 31st Oct
Final Batch 3 - 14th Nov

That's two weeks between the batches, with a decent break between semis & final, and a last batch final date which should ensure the tourney's wrapped-up before Christmas hols. If a three week gap between batches was implemented then the last batch of the final wouldn't start until 12th Dec which is probably too late. The 3rd Place playoff could start a little earlier than the final (say the week of 10th Oct) so it finishes before the big one.

I like this schedule. I definitely don't want games being started/sent/debated/bitched about over the holidays! Just speaking for myself here, not for KORT.

Chhhhhuuuuck - where are you? We need you to weigh in on it. :)

Chuck has been busy as of late though he should be back into the swing of things shortly from what I've heard.

Judge Paula Abdul says:

"The Jagger/Richards 'Route 66' was an inspired choice. You gave it your all though the pitch of the dice tailed off towards the end. There are no losers so I declare it a draw and will see you next week. Simon pass me my meds"

Aye - although both singles ended 3-2, so not a blow-out by any means.
