While I disagree with War Eagle's "My Dad is stronger than your Dad" approach to things, he's right that there has been a trend of people leaving Conquer Club and joining Landgrab.

CC's maps are still better, but the site owner of Landgrab can and does do all of his own programming so cost is no issue. If he says he will implement a new feature, it's done within a few months and he moves on to the next item. Thus Landgrab is filled with more and better features while Conquer Club waits until Lack can afford to pay a programmer. It's only a matter of time before their maps catch up.

For example, the most important upgrade that Conquer Club needs that would allow it to enter the modern internet age would be clickable maps. When did Lack promise it? Over 3 years ago in Febuary of 2007:
lackattack wrote:Clickable maps are coming sometime this year.
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12160&hilit=clickable

We're still waiting, and if you're honest, it's never going to happen as Lack would have to pay his programmers thousands of dollars to do it. The best solution would be for Lack to completely start fresh and have the code re-written from scratch, but since he can't do it himself, he can't afford to pay someone else to. Instead, the Conquer Club faithful make excuses like, "But you can download this or that addon that almost makes it seem right, or "we took some vote and 'they' would rather have some little cheap fix before we do clickable maps. I've stopped believing their promises.

When did Landgrab have clickable maps? From the first day the site was created.

I always like a good natured and honest discussion with community members. However, it seems you, Surrender Monkey, don't quite want to be a part of our community---you deadbeated in all your games from months ago, have played 6 since 2008, and only seem to be around the forum boards for using the Community to some end.

It's one thing to evaluate a website by experiencing it in all forms (like many of our forum-goers, clan participants, tournament participants, etc have), and something else entirely to evaluate it based on one's predisposition and minimal participation. But Conquer Club isn't for everyone---clearly that is why there are a couple of other World Domination websites. But we're here, having fun, and playing games. I encourage you to be a part of our Community.

Or if you don't want to be, don't complain, and go back to the other site that you love. No reason to stay here and criticize if you found something you like more, am I wrong?

When this happens ALL THE TIME, Iwould say there is something wrong.

Yes, but the "what's wrong" is the attitude, not the dice. Sorry, the dice ARE random. Check it out for yourself, since you say you know statistics.

donkeymile wrote:Anyway .... just stating the facts ... my dice analyzer has shown me without a shadow of a doubt that the dice have been bad for me ... but okay so I've had bad luck ... no biggie ... just hoping to get a good game in once in a while - just seems really hard to do the past 6-8 months on this site

Does your dice analyzer show results outside of random probability? THAT is the question you have to ask. If so, I would say present the actual data to Lack. But remember, tails are very much a part of the random curve, not just the center.

You with all of your "six games started and all deadbeaten" are that in tune with Conquer Club's populace, I guess?

So then why does he charge so much more, if "cost is no issue"?

When did Landgrab have a decent way of figuring out who goes first? They're still waiting for it.

Not sure what you mean. If you check the LandGrab site, the cost for a one year subscription is: $20. USD
The cost for a one year subscription at CC is $25. USD, so that means it costs $5 less at LandGrab.
The other 2 plans at LandGrab is that you can do 1 month at $2.50 or $60 for a lifetime membership, and I don't see CC's prices for these.
AndyDufresne wrote:...It seems you, Surrender Monkey, don't quite want to be a part of our community-----Andy

But I do. I just CAN'T STAND non-clickable maps. As you've correctly said, i've tried to deal without them in 6 games and deadbeated out of all of them. It's probably because I started on LandGrab with clickable maps and then tried to make the switch here.

Imagine if you're best friend built the coolest red ferrari kit car, but refused to put an engine in it. In the same way, it makes me so mad that you guys have so much to offer at this amazing, beautiful site, and Lack is making the IDIOTIC, STUIPID, BACKWARDS business decision of not investing his money in upgrading to clickable maps. If you can't tell this really pisses me off :x

So I post for a reason, I have an agenda. I have wanted and still want to switch to Conquer Club AFTER Lack upgrades to clickable maps. So I post in order to encourage, cajole, bully, scare, shame or anyway possible to motivate him to finally make it happen so I can come. If you build it they will come.

There is a clickable maps plugin available for CC.

Personally, I have never found clickymaps to be necessary. I do just fine without them.

Natty, I respect you so I will try this download because you suggested it.

But please don't miss my point, after people join Conquer Club, they shouldn't have to go find this addon and that addon and download/install them. Conquer Club should have clickable maps as part of it's code so shame on Lack for not (caring enough? being smart enough? being motivated enough?) adding clickable maps 3 years ago when he promised them.

Think of the way any website created after Win 3.1 (after 1992) works, you see a link and click on it to select that link. Now think of how playing a game on CC works, to select the country you attack from or to, you must look up the name of each territory you want to attack from, use the drop down menu and select from that the name of the territory. Then you look back up on the map the name of the territory you want to attack to, go back to the drop down menu, and scroll through until you find it. Press Attack. Repeat steps to attack again and to reinforce.

Clickable maps would make it so that to select the territory you attack from, you simply click that territory. Then you select the territory you're attacking to by clicking on that territory. No fine print territory names to read, no drop down menus to navigate, and much faster.

Well that sure would make it easier and explain why some opponents can move so fast. Thanks!

Your welcome and you're right, it would be much more intuitive.

REQUIRED clickable maps would be a bad thing. If they are implemented, they sould be implemented as an option, not as a requirement. I personally do not like clickable maps.

Ah, that was a mistake on my part. I remembered the $60, and for whatever reason in my mind it was $60 per year. Thanks for the clarification.
