we applaud your spirit Ginger. (You don't mind if i call you Ginger, do you?) But exactly what the heck does the world inhabited by these Apes look like? you can redeem yourself if you can find something, or at least sketch it out in whatever drawing program your computer came with.

It'd be fun to make an uber-kitschy late-60s sci-fi map... barbarella, apes, logan's run, etc. I'm diggin' the period pieces.

That's a good idea for floating an idea, but people should be free to start threads on their unique idea to drum up support and hammer out the details, IMO.
We have a system in place. I understand that he is new here and I am telling him this so that he knows for next time he has an idea. If we never told people about this system then we would have thousands of threads with people saying "I want this map" And "can someone make this map for me" And no one coud find the maps that are actually being developed. Gnerbrdmn- Dont worry. Its not your fault. Your just new and I respect that. Now you know for next time and thats whats important.

No way... I love axis & Allies but it is nothing more than a close version between Classic And World 2.1 ......What makes Axis & Allies the awesome game that it is...
The pieces... You don't have different attacking pieces in Risk.... So the translation doesn't Work.... It would just be better to make a more Historically ACCURATE, WW2 Map of the world.....

not to mention that there are a few other maps in development that are centered around famous battles or specific areas during the war.... making it a bit more interesting to play....
Don't get me wrong I love Classic & World 2.1... But I probably won't play yet another version of THE WORLD unless it is something like a
FUTURE drastically different or APOCALYPTICAL Version Like USA Apocalypse... and I think someone is already working on that

What would be interesting is If there is a map of Modern Warfare....
basically, a world map Like 2.1... but break the oceans into territories....
and possibly territories in Outer space like satellites and even the moon....Graphically it will be Difficult with Size restrictions.. and you have to worry about borders and playability

by the way; I am working on a map about the german paradrops around the Hague 1940.
Soon , I will post a map/draft.

But bear with me, I have to draw the map from scratch and learn all techniques of the drawing programs "on the fly" (all terrible manuals :( ).

ABANDONED

One of my first official duties....
as the poll came in tied at 50/50, and due to lack of response for the last question raised re the spider web, this Halloween Hollows map will be listed as officially ABONDONED.

Other cartographers may attempt this if they have the courage, with my blessing. If it is not attempted, i may re-visist it again next year - 2008

How about a map where the objective is to capture a single territory, and that territory starts neutral with say 500 troops there. Obviously the territory is either random or it is not on a continent.

Atlanta

Atlanta

I think an Atlanta map would make for an interesting choice.

Image

This is a little more detailed than I hoped to find, but the interstates (75, 85 N/S, 20 E/W, and 285 as a perimeter around the city create some natural barriers to work with when creating territories, then the countless suburbs etc. outside the perimeter could provide additional territories.

Bonuses could be done by section of the city, with larger stacked bonuses for securing highway corridors or inside/outside the perimeter.

I don't have anywhere near the skills to make a map like this, but if someone else was intrigued, I'd love to talk with them about it.

Edit: this is an interstate-only picture (no backdrop) I was able to grab. GA-400 also runs north from the 75-85 split beyond 285 (think 12 o'clock, if the city was a clock).

wcaclimbing wrote:Good start, but:

The country names are too big... The names cover parts of the borders and make it hard to see what touches what.

It is REALLY BORING visually.
It needs more pics/textures/whatever to get the visuals going much better.

I agree totally, and i like the idea somewhat, but the map STINKS

Beware, the maps in Wicked and Son of a Witch are not accurate maps of Oz. And they will also be copywritten.

The old (real) maps of Oz used in Baum's Oz books from the early 20th century are now in the public domain and can be used without trademark infringement problems.

Yes but the thing about copyright is u can always get permission to use the stuff. And the public domain ones will most likely be out of date.

The Mall

Could Somebody make this map? If I had the Knowledge and the time, I would design it myself. But how about a map modeled after a mall in anytown America?
It could have a Food Court, Escalators, Restrooms, Kiosks, and Stores that your familiar with. For copyright purpose I'll list my own ideas.
(Obvious Knock-offs)
Mabys
New Army
Tears
Better Buy
Wanna Bun
Sock Closet
Hatz

alright I can't think of any more

Anybody with the knowledge AND skills ( they are different ), I would love to see a map like this
I imagine it would be as popular (if not more than) CCU

This idea was brought up before. I really wanted to do it myself, but then I discovered that malls are just too massive. The current size constraints would make it very difficult.

Granted... I was using Mall of America as a base, (That mall is massive) but even the smaller local mall I tried working with for ideas later was too big for me to do a good map. I abandoned the idea without submitting anything.

that would be cool.

how about someone makes it off of the mall of america.

i would probably be able to do it once i got past the size restraints, but i would have to find some free time (right now im working on three maps at once)

Map Idea: Turtledove's Second Great War: American Front

Description: A map based on Harry Turtledove's settling accounts series, where the USA and CSA, after generations of conflicts, are fighting the Second Great War. What makes this different than other North American maps? It would only include the area which the war was actually fought on, not all of the USA and CSA states. Also, a bombardment option if you controlled Hanford or Lexington (where each side gets their nukes from in the book) would be cool.

Why: This is inspired a bit by qwert's western and eastern front maps. Turtledove is a great Alt History author, and this map sounds fun.

Dante's Hell

How about a map based on Dante's 9 circles (with subdivisons) of Hell? It could be great. Areas of the Neutrals, Simoniacs, Suicide Woods, et cetera. I'd make it myself if it wasn't for my severe lack of artistic abilities! Ha. What do you think?
