Raymond Feist Maps
Raymond Feist Maps
I think that the Maps from the Raymond Feist book would work very well because he already has the maps broken down into cities. to see his map check out Crydee.com

Right, I think it would be a blast, but I've embraced two other map projects that have to come first, Berlin and a High Seas restart. My interest lies in creating maps that reflect moments in history... at some point my photoshop skills may actually catch up to my interests.

Lands of Oz
Lands of Oz
I've determined that searching for the word "Oz" is a futile task
Has anyone started work on a Land of Oz map? It could be just Oz
Or Oz and surrounding countries:
There are more detailed maps out there as well. The good thing is that most of these images have entered public domain.

Starcraft's The Hunters Variation
Description:
I was playing on this map once, and I thought "hey, this would be a good risk map!" This is a map from Starcraft (ignore the colored boxes, those represented bases and minerals). It is the 2nd most popular map on Starcraft (including customs, 2nd to Fastest AKA the uber-noob map).
Why?: It allows for plenty of strategic play IMO, and many different tactics can be used to accomplish your goal. Bombardment could play a role in this game. Overall, a fun map to play (and you won't be limited to 12 units either!)

Napolleonic Europe - like Castle Risk
Napolleonic Europe (Castle Risk)
I'd like to see a Castle Risk -like board.. I 'm not sure how you'd do the sea movement
or the cards, (probably not do them, actually).. Perhaps the seas would be like
land areas (uhm.. like in Alexander's Empire..?)
Also.. NO unlimited fortifications..! Chained would work, I think, but unlimited is very
un-Napoleonic..
I dunno about initial troop placement.. seems each color should start in it's own "country'
and go from there.. rather than being spread over the board.. (colors being assigned randomly, if course)
As for Capitols (Castles).. each player could designate one at start, which would be visible
(rather than hidden).. and get extra armies for holding a Capitol
Any ideas..? Thoughts..? Not trying to make it toooo complicated.:::-) But I'm a historical gamer, so it would be appealing..(as was Castle Risk)

I have three map ideas
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reconquista
Description: A map of Spain when the northern Christians kingdoms were reconquering the Moorish land in Spain
Maps:
http://www.ucalgary.ca/applied_history/ ... 0Large.jpg
A map of Spain during Reconquista.
http://www.it.uc3m.es/~sergut/diplo-rec ... quista.png
May have some use in territory divisions.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconquesta
The Wikipedia article on Reconquista.
Why?: Because I think it would be awesome.
Thoughts: I would cut off France but leave the islands off of Spain alone and make them into a continent. Maybe divide the Moorish lands into two parts
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roman civil war
Description: Have one map or more of the civil wars of the late Roman Republic. Have maps of the wars between Pompey and Caeser, Mark Antony and Octavian, and the Senate verses Mark Antony and Octavian.
Maps:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Roman_Empire_Map.png
A map of the Roman Provinces
Why?: Also I think it would be cool
Thoughts: Divide the empire into Spain, Gaul, Italy, Africa (Morocco to the western half of Libya, Egypt, Levant, Illyria (former Yugoslavia), and Asia Minor (Turkey) (Britain wasn't conquered yet so I didn't include it, also you can leave out all of Illyria but the coast)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gallic Wars
Description: Caeser's invasion of Gaul. Have Gaul divided roughly into the Roman Provinces.
Maps:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Map_ ... _Towns.png
Not a map of the Provinces but I think it might be useful
Why?: Again I think it would be cool

I Love this Idea! As long as I get to be Dorothy!
If nobody is willing to help me with the map and the foundry process I am going to abandon it. Yes, I do have a life, even hobbies, beyond CC. It seems to be more appealing to the CC community to work on detailed maps of home (like the Puked Sound, to name just one futile example) than of actual strategic and disputed world regions. I rest my case, with pain in my heart...
Re: Lands of Oz
Oz was actually gonna be what i was working on next, and Im almost done with the map im working on right now, and btw, if u want a better map of Oz try the inside cover of the book "Son of a Witch", it has a very detailed mapSeinfreak wrote:I've determined that searching for the word "Oz" is a futile task![]()

This is an edit: I just ran into a problem with the map I am currently working on, cause i cant find a site that will host my svg picture, so i dont have a url for it and i cant submit it

bryguy wrote:there is also a good detailed map in the "Wicked" book, I am planning to use one of those maps
Beware, the maps in Wicked and Son of a Witch are not accurate maps of Oz. And they will also be copywritten.
The old (real) maps of Oz used in Baum's Oz books from the early 20th century are now in the public domain and can be used without trademark infringement problems.
dominationnation wrote:please dont make a new thread unless you actually plan on making the map yourself, and have a draft ready. If all you have is an idea post it in the sticky at the top of this fourm labeled "Map ideas-free to a good home"
thank you
That's a good idea for floating an idea, but people should be free to start threads on their unique idea to drum up support and hammer out the details, IMO.
