Can we do something with this map I found in an old book.

It is the world 620 million years ago.

The beginning of the timeperiod Cambrium.

No it is not Pangea, it is about 50 million years after that period.

But you can see what pangea looks like, if you shift the islands and continents together. This looks more to a real map than the map in this forum, I think.

Try this link and puzzle our continents into Pangea

http://atlas.geo.cornell.edu/education/ ... uzzle.html

and see that the map in this forum is not what it used to be.

In fact, I had already the idea of create a rounded world and surround it with space and stars background... more alike to discworld style.

About playability, I will possibly connect Kreya (Korea, but I will rename to something related to Manchuria) to Marit. This will turn India in an important passage. But to also add some spice, Im intending to put a volcano in India. This little area would have a bonus of 2 (overvalued, I know), but would give a bonus of -3 to each new continent you hold... So, if you hold India and another continent, India would become a -1 bonus, and a -4 if you hold it and 2 other continents, and so... Possible explanations: the volcano god would be angry about interest in other lands and throw a curse, or "followers" (I know, there were no human beings in pangea) would sacrifice 3 people of each other area to please the volcano god each turn... In fact, as India would also be the most important connection North - South, manage the negative (or positive) bonus would be interesting.

Hmmm, should names of continents be the actual names, or should we create new names, too?

marv, going too fast... we never talked about names, negative bonuses etc... and not close to what i pictured, before jumping to every idea you have you could at least talk to me, since im doing half the work....

most of the colors arent even appealing to me... so catch me online sometime and we will start from where we were last time.

I dont like the negative bonus idea and a lot of the names need to be changed, also.

No problem, it was to boost the discussion

By the way, did you read these are not definitive names?
About the colours, I know you would like all continents as different variations of pink, but I believe it wouldnt work

Ok, I hope we can talk soon :)

Okay trying something new. Since supposedly humans were not around yet during this time, Jamie and I thought it might be interesting to use dino names. Its not the typical names ending in "saurus". Most of the countries on here sound like actual countries. So, I wanted to see what you all thought about it. Use names that sound like current countries (names made up) or real names of real things that have to do with the map. The first choice would be easier to know what is what, but the second is a bit more realistic. I was planning on putting them in the contienents they were found but the site took the places off, that or i cant find it. So I dont know which was found where. They are just randomly scattered on the map. So I thought id get some opinions to see which we are going to use. Oh and I guess for playability Marvaddin and I are still considering the negative bonus for holding India which helps the playability a bit. If there are any suggestions other than what i mentioned, go ahead and say them. Constructive criticism only.

So, no useful comments?
Version 1: vibrant colours and names related to the names in classic map or names of real countries / regions.
Image
Version 2: palid colours (please ignore the borders minor problems) and names related to dinos names.

What names and colours do you prefer?
C'mon, many people just tell me that dislike my maps when I place constructive criticism about their maps... so, its your chance, comment here!

One thing that turns me off about this map, is it looks visually similar to Brazil. Regarding the philippines map, I liked how you tweaked the visuals, but this one seems just to similar, style wise. What can you do to make them look different?

Im intending put the map in a round world with stars background. Do you like the idea?

But I dont know why do you think its similar to Brazil. If you can explain your point better... Although I doubt it wont be alike to other map, then...

What texture would you suggest? More alike to something, or maybe a heavier or softer one... what do you think that would fit better? Wait, are you talking about land or ocean?

Hovering map... isnt it a map that is not with ocean, and other natural land masses? I thought Germany or Brazil maps were hovering ones, correct me if Im wrong... And that blue surrounding area is supposed to be the ocean. More opinions about colours and names, please.

I think we need change the poll... Andy? (We decided to use Pangea name).

Make india worth 1 if anything. The starry sky appears to be celebrating gay pride, try to change it alittle but keep with the theme of a starry night.

Hmm.. How bout a whole series of maps, one for each age. Silurian, Cambrian, Jurassic, Triassic, Cambrian, etc...
Witch age does Pangea belong to?

We still havent decided India situation... I was suggesting connect it to Asia, and have it with +2 bonus, but giving -3 to each other continent you have beyond it... If we dont have something like that, surely its bonus will be lowered. By the way, any feedback about this idea? About the sky, I also think its crowded... Im thinking about remove some stars, mainly the red ones... but me and Kayla need to discuss the changes 1st.

If Im not wrong, Pangea belongs to Triassic. But I dont think that series would be good, because the maps would be very alike, I think.

Prophet, can you please explain better your opinion about the colours? What are you suggesting, in fact?

More feedback, pleeeeease???
