With the exception of number 3, none of the projections would include either Cuba or Jamaica. They're off the map. And number 3 does include the tip of Cuba, where it should be for its projection.

okay fine 3 does include it 8-[

most of them tho would have it towards the top right, just parts of it but still have it

What's say we let it go until after everybody has sobered up from new years... how does January 7th sound to everyone? It's another Wednesday, and we can say deadline is midnight GMT again.

Just because they have three weeks, that doesn't mean the rest of you shouldn't keep giving feedback over that time!

just wondering when/if we find out how makes it to round 2? or does everyone make it and that entry that didnt make it to?

I think it should be asked the entrant to post their new draft with armies number on it. Their is a huge difference between a map with or without it. And as the game is played with armies :o (I known it can be a shock for some people) it would help voters to see the reality of the final result.
De gueules à la tour d'argent ouverte, crénelée de trois pièces, sommée d'un donjon ajouré, crénelé de deux pièces
Gules an open tower silver, crenellated three parts, topped by a apertured turret, crenellated two parts

A very valid point... - remember - you don't need to write your XML for this - you can simply place the army numbers on top of your image.

I agree, all the maps should be at the opint that they are 'ready to play' graphically. Final Forge is for tweaking of minor problems, not adding army circles and such.

Agreed... plus, it is in the best interests of each of the mapmakers to present a product that looks as "finished" as possible. I think many of us would be more inclined to vote for a map that looks ready to play, with properly-sized army shadows, clean borders, well-placed territory names, etc.

i didn't think it would make sense to unveil the mapmakers until after the next round of voting... of course, if the mapmakers want to reveal themselves there's nothing stopping them, but i would discourage it.

We already had some accusations of block voting by clans, so keeping the vote anonymous would keep the voting at least a bit more on the level. I don't know that it would actually happen, but all we'd need is for somebody to say "I didn't vote for map X because so-and-so has been spamming the other forums trying to get votes," and the competition is tainted.

I think it's better to find out after all the voting is done. I don't see it as "bad" if people are going to tell their clans/friends about it but obviously people voting solely because of that relation is disappointing but that's life.

for the new one:
a. the background could work better with the territories
b. the key could be more natural
c. the beautification on the territories could be less jagged.

dont know why #5 is in the lead. it looks good, but its basically like the portugal map and doesnt give me much of a central america feel.

#4 is more real and unique with the texture and makes it just pop out of the screen. gives it a really 3D-ish feel to it which is a refreshing change from the flat bland feel of #5.

Time to retire this much loved sig of mine with a new clan.

I know I'm way late on this.... but I love #3. I completely understand why it poses a problem for some folks, but its incredible in my opinion, and for my tastes.

I'd like to encourage the map maker to try their hand at other maps, especially if they don't win this competition. I think CC needs a new, unique style - and that's a great one!

I am not sure how to vote on the maps or if you have to join the elite group of folk who work in this space but my vote is Map 4 which is clear and concise and easy on the eye

I believe we said the deadline was this wednesday, midnight GMT... none of the mapmakers involved have mentioned that they are in need of more time, so let's go with that.

An anonymous mapmaker would like feedback on his/her latest draft... take a moment and make a comment please! :)

Well I just switched tabs back and forth making it like it was a single tab, and I didn't see a single difference…anyways, I don't really like the way that Guatemala is split into two lines with the hyphen in the minimap, and also the font/style of the "Mexico," "Caribbean Sea," and "Colombia".

EDIT: Oaktown, somethin's wrong with the URLS — both the image on the first page and your latest one have the same URL :?
