Just received a message from kagetora saying that he needs to postpone setting up new games until Aug 17th or so; he's completely tied up with an exchange student program at the moment.

The director has gotten back to me yet.. so hopefully i can PM optimus or a tournament director and just get the rights.. sorry for this taking some time.

Sorry Optimus said that i cannot get the rights without his permission. So the tournament is canceled. Im going to recreate this tournament in about a week. so stayed tuned!

I would have thought this would be sufficient to transfer the rights. You are doing everyone a favor and given he bailed on everyone it is logical that he might not be reading PMs

While the thought is nice, just the fact that he asked for someone to take it over isn't quite good enough. Up to this point we've required specific permission for a specific person to take the tournament over.

Is this something that should be reconsidered?

There is a post that he is looking for someone to take over the tournament and the last post in this thread was July 29th. Rather than abandoning a tournament ... doesn't it make more sense to let a volunteer finish it since the organizor has asked for someone to take it over since he isn't going to finish it.

We have plenty of volunteers that want to take over abandoned tournaments all the time, but our current policy is that without specific acknowledgment from the original tournament organizer for a specific organizer to replace them we don't transfer the privileges.

The Tournament Directors have not received that, so therefore this tournament is abandoned.
